Open at the foot of the Grand Atlas, along the Atlantic Ocean, Essaouira is a magnificent authentic fishing port which is still in operation. Thanks to intelligent management by the authorities, the Medina remains preserved and retains its renowned charm, featuring white facades, blue shutters, and beige ramparts.
The Medina contains architectural treasures as well as lively souks and a permanent exhibition of local crafts (goldsmith, marquetry, etc.). Cultural city since its creation, Essaouira is full of galleries and exhibition halls in which you will love to stroll and discover artists from all walks of life.
The region of Essaouira is world-famous for being the cradle of centuries-old argan forests. From the fruit of this tree is born argan oil whose culinary and cosmetic virtues are now world-renowned. Essaouira is also known worldwide as one of the best spots for Kite Surfing, Surfing and Wind Surfing thanks to the thermal wind which blows abundantly (mainly between April and October). You will find many instructors to teach you these disciplines, whether you want to start or improve.
Since its creation a few years ago, the Golf de Mogador has also made Essaouira one of the most popular regions for golfers. Two essential reasons for this enthusiasm: sunshine 320 days a year and a temperature that is always pleasant even in summer thanks to the wind; and a magnificent course of 2 times 18 holes created by the famous Gary Player who is qualified as "probably one of the best".
Do you ride a horse? You will love treading the miles of wild beaches at an unbridled gallop on the backs of perfectly trained thoroughbreds from the various ranches in the immediate vicinity.
