You’re secreted away in the forest, but it’s just a five-minute walk into the centre of Idyllwild village where mom & pop shops, brewpubs and rustic restaurants await, and the mayor is a golden retriever (yes, you read that right). Back at the cabin, the back deck looks out into the pines where a barbecue feast can be served at the picnic table, or you can kick back on the outdoor sofa. There’s a wood-burning stove in the living room, so grab a book from the collection or put a Mumford & Sons vinyl on the record player to really get into the cabin mood. This is the kind of abode that sparks creativity, and if the mood strikes, sit up at the artist’s desk and let it all out. For such a cosy cabin, the kitchen is wonderfully spacious and illuminated in sunlight from skylights during the day. Come nightfall, the sky speckles with stars and you can enjoy a crystal clear view of the cosmos from the backyard.
