An 1850s barn has been given the Hamptons treatment – by which we mean lavished in luxury for a gorgeous summer bolthole. Set in Southampton, this historic home meshes old world with modern touches. Aspects of the barn have been preserved, with a floor-to-ceiling, exposed-brick fireplace juxtaposing against pendant lights and modern art prints for a cosy living area. It’s not just the living room, social space abounds in the plot for get-togethers, including on futuristic Perspex chairs or by pushing open the French doors to the decking, complete with granite-topped table. When you’re not scoffing something delicious from the barbecue or nearby farmers’ market, hit the tennis courts for games or splash about in the heated pool. And when you need some alone time, we suggest retreating to the sofa in the reading nook or watching the sunset from the upstairs decking.

*The pool is not fenced in so small children will need to be kept an eye on – the home is not suited for children under the age of 4
*The pool is only typically available between Memorial Day and Labor Day, if your booking falls outside of this, check before you arrive

*We recommend hiring a car for ease of navigating this area – there is space for up to four cars on the driveway
