This beautiful 12th century villa is idyllically set amid sunflower fields and wooded hills on the border of Umbria and Tuscany.
Umbria is the only Italian region having neither a coastline nor a boarder with other countries and so therefore is famous for its ruggedly beautiful landscapes, medieval towns and of course Umbrian wines grown in the hills.
Villa Francis gives you the feeling that it has been untouched by the passage of time, hidden away in the calm of nature with a relaxing atmosphere charged with the subtle callings of purity and simplicity. The villa comprises of seven self catered apartments containing 8 bedrooms for 17 guest with en suit bathrooms. An additional 12 guests can sleep on sofas in the living rooms of several of the apartments.
It’s strategic position allows the visitor to reach some of Umbria’s and Tuscany’s most important artistic towns in less than an hour, which is ideal if you feel like doing excursions during your stay at Villa Francis.
For Art & Culture Lovers the medieval hill towns of Assisi, Perugia, and Gubbio, as well as Cortona are only 40 km away; Arezzo, Siena and Florence are just a 45 – 90 minute drive away.
For Wine Lovers- The famous Gritti Family Vineyard  offers a very popular vineyard tour, dinner  and wine tasting in the Niccone Valley.
The world renowned wine trails of Montefalco in Torgiano where you can visit the Lungarotti Wine Cellars; and the prestigious Brunello wineries of Montalcino in Tuscany are only a 1 hour drive from Villa Francis. The beautiful Montepulciano and his famaous “Vino Nobile” is just a 40 minute drive.
For Music Lovers – The Spoleto Classical Music Festival of the Due Mondi and the Umbria Jazz Festivals is in July and the Preggio Chamber Music Festival is in August.
There is also an 18 hole golf course at Antognolla Golf Club (5km)
Fly fishing (Tiber River 14km), tennis, mountain climbing, trekking, horseback riding (2km); and water recreation ( Lago Trasimeno 25km).
