Chalets in a proper Alpine town, close to Geneva and plugged into the vast Portes du Soleil
As featured in
Morzine has long been a favourite with British skiers, and it is easy to see why. It is a genuine Alpine town with a life of its own, about an hour and a quarter from Geneva, with traditional wooden chalets, good restaurants and lifts into the Portes du Soleil, one of the largest linked ski areas in the world.
Our Morzine collection runs to 80+ chalets, from family chalets with hot tubs a short walk from the lifts to large catered chalets with spas and cinema rooms. Many are equally good in summer, when Morzine turns into a mountain-biking and walking resort.
Here is a guide to Morzine, its skiing and its neighbours.

Rent Chalet Moura France5 bedroomsMorzine for a lively town with character, Les Gets next door for a family-friendly village, Avoriaz above for car-free, ski-in ski-out skiing, and the whole Portes du Soleil on one pass.

Morzine sits at around 1,000 metres, spread along both sides of a river, with a traditional centre of old wooden buildings, bakeries, bars and restaurants. It feels like a place where people live rather than a resort that empties in April, which gives it a warmth some purpose-built resorts lack.
Chalets range from the centre of town to quieter spots on the hillsides, with the Pleney and Super Morzine lifts and the free town buses connecting everything.

Morzine is linked to Les Gets on one side and to Avoriaz above, and through Avoriaz to the rest of the Portes du Soleil, a vast area spanning France and Switzerland with around 600 kilometres of pistes. Mixed-ability groups are well served, with wooded runs around Morzine and Les Gets and higher, more snow-sure skiing at Avoriaz.
Because the town is relatively low, snow at village level varies from year to year, while the higher slopes above hold it well. Our concierge can advise on the best weeks and book ski school and guides.

The ski season usually runs from mid December to early April, with January and March often the best balance of snow and space. In summer, Morzine is one of Europe's best-known mountain-biking resorts, with lift-served trails, lakes for swimming and walking right from the chalet door.
Our concierge can arrange transfers from Geneva, ski hire, lessons, lift passes and, in summer, bike hire and guides.
