Pool villas in Florida, desert houses in Palm Springs, ski chalets in the Rockies and summer houses in the Hamptons
As featured in
The United States is not really one destination. It is a continent of them. A week in a Miami Beach apartment has very little in common with a week in a timber chalet above Park City, and neither looks much like a summer on the South Fork of Long Island. The trick is to choose the America you want before you choose the house.
Our collection runs to 3,900+ homes across the country. There are big pool villas near Kissimmee and Davenport, mid-century houses in Palm Springs, hillside estates in Los Angeles, ski chalets in Utah and Colorado, shingled houses in the Hamptons and apartments on Manhattan's Upper East Side.
Below is a short guide to the regions British travellers love most, and when each is at its best.

House Noyack Sag Harbor: 5-Bedroom Golf Villa with Seaview & Pool – Sag Harbor5 bedroomsFlorida for pool villas and beaches, Los Angeles and Palm Springs for sunshine and modernist architecture, Park City for skiing, and the Hamptons and Charleston for East Coast summers.

Around Kissimmee and Davenport, a short drive from Walt Disney World and the Orlando parks, the villas are built for families: private pools, games rooms and space for three generations. It is the most practical American holiday there is.
Further south, Miami Beach has its pastel Art Deco Historic District, Little Havana serves strong Cuban coffee on Calle Ocho, and Art Basel arrives every December. Fort Lauderdale, laced with canals around Las Olas, has a quieter life on the water, where the boat moored at the bottom of the garden is the main event.

Los Angeles rewards a good address. Houses in Brentwood, Laurel Canyon and Topanga sit in the hills above the city, with the Getty's hilltop museum and the beaches of Santa Monica and Malibu close by. Down the coast, San Diego and Mission Beach offer an easier, more seaside version of Southern California.
Inland, Palm Springs is a showcase of mid-century modern architecture, celebrated each February during Modernism Week. Beyond it lies Joshua Tree National Park, where the Mojave and Colorado deserts meet under wide, dark night skies.

Park City, which hosted events at the 2002 Winter Olympics, is home to Park City Mountain, one of the largest ski areas in the country, with Deer Valley next door. Salt Lake City airport is around 40 minutes away, so it is the easiest of the big American resorts to reach.
In Colorado, Aspen has four mountains on one lift ticket, Aspen Mountain, Snowmass, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk, with a real Victorian mining town at its heart. Breckenridge is livelier and more relaxed. Lake Tahoe, on the California and Nevada border, is as good for summer hiking and boating as it is for winter skiing.

American food is far more regional than its reputation suggests. Charleston and the Lowcountry mean shrimp and grits, Florida's stone crab is served in season from autumn to spring, Sonoma pours some of the best wine in the country, and Austin takes its barbecue very seriously.
Timing matters. Florida is at its best from November to May, as the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November. The desert is hot in summer, so come between October and May, and the Rockies ski from December to April. The Hamptons are at their liveliest in July and August, while Hilton Head and Charleston are lovely in spring. Our concierge can arrange transfers, car hire, restaurant tables and park tickets.

The United States is so large that the wrong address can mean an hour in traffic every day, and we know which homes are close to the beach, the lifts or the parks. With 3,900+ properties in the United States, we can usually find the house that suits you rather than the one that happens to be free. Search by size, pool, location and price, or tell us what you have in mind and we will put together a shortlist.
You book with us directly, with no booking fees. Questions about access, parking, pool heating or how far it really is to the nearest beach go to people who can find out the answer.
Airport transfers, car hire, theme park tickets, ski passes, boat charters, restaurant reservations and private chefs. Our concierge team arranges all of it, leaving you free to decide which terrace to sit on.
Couples, families with small children, three generations together or a crowd of friends celebrating a birthday: we match the house to the group, down to the number of bathrooms and whether the pool is fenced.
It depends on the holiday you want. Kissimmee and Davenport in Florida are best for families and theme parks, Miami Beach and Los Angeles for city life by the sea, Palm Springs for desert sunshine, Park City and Aspen for skiing, and the Hamptons for an East Coast summer.
Each region has its own season. Florida is best from November to May, the California desert from October to May, the Rockies from December to April for skiing, and the Hamptons in high summer.
Most British citizens on holiday can travel without a visa under the visa waiver scheme, but must apply online for an ESTA before departure. Allow plenty of time, and check the current rules on the official US government website before you book flights.
