Rental Description

Nestled in the mid-Wales countryside in a wonderful elevated position, near the charming market town of Builth Wells, in the county of Powys and Brecknockshire, Dragonfly Lodge offers a truly tranquil, stunning spot for a relaxing holiday. With fabulous living spaces and four sublime bedrooms, it suits families and groups of friends. The lodge comes with amazing attention to detail and the added extra of a games room with a snooker table. The views from the terrace and some of its rooms down to the river are sublime. It is the perfect place to spend time with your loved ones, to relax and enjoy a spot of switch off.
Builth Wells is a town with an interesting history and ancient buildings including the 14th century Fountain Inn and the atmospheric Drover’s Tea Room. Many of the buildings are made from stone from the nearby Llanelwedd Quarry. You will find antiques shops, galleries and the Wyeside Arts Centre.  The arts centre hosts innovative exhibitions, performances and an independent cinema. Located within the rolling hills of the Brecon Beacons, the beauty and tranquility of this magical location will leave you fully refreshed and wonderfully relaxed. When arriving at Dragonfly Lodge you will already have driven through miles of lush, undulating hills and tree lined valleys. You will feel a million miles from anywhere, in glorious seclusion and in the middle of nature.
Dragonfly Lodge is very smart in appearance with a stone and dark wood exterior. Within, you will discover oak surfaces, slate floors, hunting trophies and very comfortable traditional furnishings. The living room enjoys a huge feature fireplace, a very high, wooden clad ceiling and beams, offering a warm welcome and much charm. The sofas are brightly coloured offering delightful colour splashes. Doors open from the living room to the conservatory games room where you will no doubt have a lot of fun with the snooker table. The kitchen is bright modern and a chef’s dream with its Aga and other excellent appliances. A dining table sits at the far end of the kitchen where you can dine with a view. The lodge also comes with an office with a sofa, a great place to head to if you have emails to catch up on or if you fancy a quiet read of your holiday book.
There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms at Dragonfly Lodge. Two rooms enjoy kingsize beds, one offers twin beds and one is a single. They are beautifully presented in mellow colour tones and with luxury linens adorning the beds. Both bathrooms are immaculate with baths and shower attachments. There is a large first floor balcony.
Though the interior of Dragonfly Lodge is lovely, the magic really happens outside where the ever changing light bathes the terrace and balcony every day. You will discover comfortable outdoor furniture, a barbecue for alfresco dining and a fire pit for chilly evenings. The terrace is the perfect spot to pop a cork and let the conversation flow as you enjoy the wondrous vistas across the woods, river and farmland in front of you.The lovely Dragonfly Lodge enjoys a fantastic countryside setting just outside of Builth Wells in the Brecon Beacons. Surrounded by rolling hills, woodland and a river, the setting is stunning and very peaceful. Builth Wells is an attractive town with many of its buildings built with stone from the local quarry, a good selection of eateries and the Wyeside Arts Centre which was the original cattle market and is now thriving independent theatre and cinema.
The Brecon Beacons National Park is a great place for those that love hiking and cycling. It is a living, working landscape which will definitely bring out your adventurous side. There are many stables where you can enjoy horse riding including the Ellesmere Riding Centre, Llangorse Activity Centre, Cantref Riding Centre, Tregoyd Mountain Riders, Freerein Riding Holidays and Grange Trekking Centre. Their herds of well-schooled Welsh cobs, ponies and cob crosses offer the ultimate in riding experiences through outstanding scenery. Genteel pony treks are suitable for complete novices and families who want to explore Wales on a horse while experienced riders can enjoy wonderful canters on hacks and full-day moorland and forest hacking experiences. The National Park is a great place for a day on two wheels. Cycling and mountain biking is a wonderful way to enjoy the countryside. There are a lot of different terrains. If you don’t want to take your bikes, you can hire them in many places. There are also many options for watersports. You can enjoy the tranquility of canals and reservoirs as well as extreme water adventures including kayaking over jaw-dropping waterfalls. You can sail, windsurf, kayak, canoe and stand up paddle board. As well as the nearby River Wye, you can enjoy these activities on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, the River Usk and the Llangorse Lake. The best river access points for canoeists are Glasbury or Hay-on-Wye on the River Wye. From both you can launch your own canoe, hire a canoe or join a guided paddle. The incredibly picturesque one hundred mile stretch of the River Wye from Hay-on-Wye to the Bristol Channel has year-round right of navigation and is perfect for touring.
Hay-on-Wye is a town sprinkled with bookshops. It is famous for its annual Festival of Literature. There are so many beautiful shops including the restored Booth’s Books and Rose’s Books which specialises in rare and out-of-print children’s books. You can wallow in nostaligia and buy gifts in the shop. Another wonder is Murder and Mayhem, brimming with crime and horror books with two floors of classic detective and mystery novels.
