Thanks to its fantastic location – only 300 metres from the nearest swimming beach and a short walk into Kalkan centre – this is the perfect villa for exploring the local area. Snorkel in the glass-clear waters, take part in action-packed watersports like scuba diving or sip an iced coffee, waterfront, by the boat-dotted harbour. And when you get back to Villa Yaprak, know that you’ll be welcomed with cooling air conditioning and plenty of comfy seating options so you can unwind and relax. This villa also benefits from a gym, pool and table tennis, so there’s plenty to keep the whole family busy.
The ground floor is home to the spacious open-plan living, kitchen and dining area – with doors leading straight out onto the pool terrace. Go up the steps onto the first floor and you’ll find two en-suite double bedrooms – both with balconies so you can take in those fantastic coastal views. On the second floor is the master en-suite double bedroom. It’s complete with a roof terrace – the perfect spot for getting some R&R – as well as a spa-like Jacuzzi bathtub. When you’re not chilling here, the outdoor alfresco dining table and under shade seating area have your name on them. Plus, this villa benefits from a handy outdoor shower, barbeque and car parking space.
 Villa Yaprak is set in a peaceful spot overlooking beautiful Kalamar Bay on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast. It’s slightly west of the old fishing town of Kalkan and has the majestic pine tree-lined Taurus Mountains as backdrop. The quiet cove is sheltered and is a popular place to simply swim in the crystal-clear turquoise waters or take part in water sports like kayaking, scuba diving or jet skiing.
A short walk from Kalamar Bay takes you into Kalkan centre with an exquisite harbour dotted with Turkish wooden gulets (boats), waterfront restaurants and a beautiful and historic old town area which extends back from the sea. Wander the streets with houses draped in brightly coloured bougainvillaea flowers or dine on a roof terrace restaurant with spectacular views of the town. There are also plenty of swimming beaches in Kalkan and Turkish Baths for a relaxing end-of-day massage.
To immerse yourself in the rich history of this charming part of Turkey, you can visit the Church turned mosque by Kalkan’s harbour. Venturing furthering afield you can take a boat trip to visit various stunning bay or from nearby Kas to the small island of Kekova where you can snorkel and explore the part sunken ruins of Dolchiste, an ancient town which was destroyed by an earthquake during the 2nd century, known as the sunken city.
For outdoor adventurers, the dramatic Taurus Mountains with deeply cut valleys and canyons are an ideal place to hike. You could also join the popular Lycian Way – a long-distance footpath that takes you around the coast. The route stops at great Lycian sites including the aquaduct betweenCavdir and Uzumlu with abandoned Greek buildings. Lycian sites in the area include Patara, Xanthos, Letton and Tlos to name a few. The bohemian town of Kas is a 30 minute drive, while the resort town of Fethiye is a one-hour drive away. Good news!
