A Fashion Editors Christmas Gift Guide – Part Two

In a panic about your Christmas shopping? Feeling uninspired? Read on for some of my favourite picks for the festive season:
Warning! If you know you are on the receiving end of my Christmas List please click away now….or risk spoiling your surprise!
For the gals:
Give it a Rest Wash Bag from Liberty London…
What’s not to love? An iconic liberty print wash bag, filled with a beautiful selection of pampering goodies including a Votary Pillow Spray, a lip balm, aromatherapy oils, an overnight facial treatment and a rose-scented Diptique candle, ….. Pretty and practical, this is the perfect gift for Mums and discerning Grandmas.
Olverum Bath Oil
This has been a recent discovery for me, and I have become evangelical about it. It would make a lovely present, and is pretty much going to everyone on my list. It was introduced to the UK by Prince Phillip who discovered it on his travels and is described as ‘Hygge’ in a bottle. It’s a magical, soothing mixture of lavender, rosemary and eucalyptus and the smell totally transports you to another world whilst seriously helping to soak away those knots in your muscles and clearing your sinuses to boot. You only need a teaspoon of oil per bath, so the pretty glass bottle should last a while in their bathroom.
Limited Edition Holiday 2017 Ambient Lighting Edit 2017, Hourglass…
What is it about girls and glitter?! We are total magpies when it comes to sparkle, whether we are talking diamonds, sequins, or glittery makeup, and at this time of year there is every reason to really embrace the disco factor. If you have read my previous articles you will know that I am a fan of Hourglass, as not only is their range super-effective with a beautiful colour palette, they are also vegan and cruelty free. I have the Ambient Strobe Lighting Palette myself, which is part of my daily makeup routine and I love it for its radiance-giving effects. This little number from hourglass offers 6 gorgeous shades for a ‘flawlessly lit’ complexion. It contains a bronzer and two blushers so there are endless possibilities for makeup perfection here. This is going to a very special teenager in my life and I know that she will love it, but I know that any of my friends would be equally delighted with this too.
Victoria Cator Santa Baby Scented Candle
It may not surprise you that I consider myself a bit of a candle connoisseur, particularly when it comes to festive ones. There are a lots of lovely candles out there, but I have to say that this Victoria Cator one takes the gingerbread biscuit! Victoria’s candles really are a cut above the other luxury candles out there. They are without exception the most exquisitely scented; they come with two wicks to ensure a clean even burn and are made from a beeswax blend ensuring the best olfactory experience and no residue. This one is bumper-sized and comes with four wicks rather than the usual two. Once lit, it easily fills the entire house with the most delicious Christmas scent, and everybody comments to ask what it is. It is beautiful quality and would make a gorgeous gift.
Wonderbly Wonka Book
I am still very much a child at heart, and I couldn’t help but fall in love with this delectable little book, when I stumbled across it in John Lewis. Fully personalised, with plenty of attention to the little details which make it super special, it’s beautifully illustrated and takes your child on their own memorable journey through Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. My daughter is 9 and despite being at the older end of the recommended age bracket I know she will love it – and I will love reading it with her. It’s even chocolate scented!
Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls…
Another beautiful book. This time full of inspirational role models of strong successful women from Amelia Earhart to Michelle Obama which I’m hoping will teach my little girl to dream big, and reach for the stars.
Silke Hair Wrap
For me – this is a game changer. I have long hair, and somehow always wake up with tangled, frizzy tresses that take forever to comb through. I thought this was normal, until I learned that it was my cotton pillowcase absorbing the natural oils from my hair. Sceptical? I was too until I wrapped my hair up in a Silke silk turban overnight, and now I’m a total convert. I now wake up without tangles and with ‘moisturised’ hair, thanks to the properties of the silk. My hair is even less greasy now as the oils from the scalp are distributed along the lengths while you sleep. It’s genius! All my friends are getting one.
Sari Cake
Another discovery in John Lewis, these are really fab presents for people you don’t know that well, or who are just really hard to buy for. They are the most beautiful, exquisitely decorated Christmas cakes you will ever see. Resembling Indian Saris, they would make a beautiful addition to any festive table, and are almost too pretty to eat.
For the guys:
Tipplesworth Old Fashioned Cocktail Case…
I love Old Fashioned Cocktails, they are totally delicious and their warming, zesty flavour is perfect for this time of the year. A great present for the discerning gent in your life, this is a funky little vintage travel case, containing everything you need to make a delicious Old Fashioned Cocktail for two. All you require is an orange for zesting and a roaring open fire to set the scene.
Alexander McQueen Insignia Marble Envelope Cardholder…
It’s Alexander McQueen, it’s monochrome, it’s really unusual and distinctive and I love it. If your man is dandy and knows his Dolce from his Dunhill, then he’ll treasure this.
Post-poo drops…
Another little something under the tree that will make them chuckle, I’m giving these to all the guys on Christmas day. A modern – and far superior – take on air freshener, with a wonderful Aesop aroma.
Wooden Luxury Shoe Trees
Proper shoe trees will ensure that your investment kicks last a lifetime. They are hardly exciting, so not really the sort of thing you would rush out to buy yourself, which is why I like to give them as presents. These beautiful cedar wood ones maintain the shape of the precious leather, whilst deodorising and minimising the ageing process. Every gentleman’s wardrobe should have several pairs….
Furious Goose Pocket Square
This brand are tipped to be huge in 2018, so why not get in early and gift one of their glorious pocket squares to someone who’s wardrobe could do with a little brightening? Furious Goose makes pocket squares for those who dare to be different, and I love the colours of their ‘Enchanted Forest’ design in blues and ochres and golds.
Hello Darling Doormat, Rockett St George
For the fashionista in your life! It’s a bit of fun, but we all need to unwrap something a bit silly on Christmas Day.
Whittling Handbook and 12-Piece Carving Set, Querkity
This certainly isn’t the most expensive gift my son will be getting this year, but I am certain it will be one of his favourites. Ray Mears eat your heart out.
So there you have it, just a few of the goodies I have waiting to be wrapped and stashed under the tree, hopefully I have inspired you to at least tick a couple more people off your shopping list. Don’t forget you can always treat them to a styling session with me if you are after something just a little bit different. All the details are on the website.
Happy Shopping – and a very Merry Christmas!
