Georgian apartments, townhouses and country houses in a honey-stone city built on hot springs
As featured in
The Romans came to Bath for the hot springs, and the Georgians rebuilt it in pale Bath stone as the most fashionable resort in England. The result is a whole city listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Crescents, terraces and squares climb the hills above the River Avon, and you can still bathe in the warm mineral water that started it all.
Our Bath collection runs to 100+ properties, from apartments in Georgian townhouses near the centre to whole townhouses with courtyards on the slopes of Lansdown, and family houses with gardens, saunas and hot tubs in the green valleys around the city.
Here is a guide to the neighbourhoods, the seasons and the pleasures of staying a little longer than a day trip allows.

Villa Rental at Featherstone Manor | 9-Bedroom Manor in Bath & North9 bedroomsThe centre for walking everywhere, Lansdown for grand crescents and views, Bathwick and Prior Park for leafy streets close to town, and the Somerset countryside and Mendip Hills for space and gardens.

Bath is small enough to cross on foot, but it is steep, and where you stay shapes the holiday. An apartment in the centre puts the Abbey, the Pump Room and the restaurants a few minutes away. Lansdown, rising to the north, is the city of grand set pieces: the Royal Crescent, Lansdown Crescent and, at the top, Beckford's Tower.
Across Pulteney Bridge, Bathwick is laid out along Great Pulteney Street, broad and level, with the Holburne Museum at its far end. To the south, Widcombe and Prior Park feel almost rural yet are only a short walk from the station.

The Roman Baths are among the best preserved Roman remains in northern Europe. The hot spring still fills the Great Bath, steaming gently in cold weather. Afterwards, the Pump Room next door is the traditional place for lunch, and for a glass of the spa water if you are curious.
To bathe in the water yourself, go to Thermae Bath Spa, whose open-air rooftop pool looks out over the Abbey tower. Go at dusk in winter, when the steam rises against the lights of the city. Bath is also one of the Great Spas of Europe, a second UNESCO listing it shares with towns such as Baden-Baden and Spa.

Bath sits in a bowl of green hills, and the countryside starts sooner than you would think. The National Trust's Bath Skyline walk loops around the eastern edge of the city, and Prior Park Landscape Garden runs down a valley to a Palladian bridge, one of only a handful in the world. The Kennet and Avon Canal makes a level towpath walk or cycle to Bradford on Avon.
Further afield, Wells Cathedral, Cheddar Gorge and the Mendip Hills are within an easy drive, and the National Trust village of Lacock is close by in Wiltshire.

Bath eats well for a city its size, with good restaurants, a Saturday farmers' market at Green Park Station, and a few local institutions. Try a Sally Lunn bun in one of the oldest houses in the city, or a Bath Oliver biscuit with a wedge of Bath Soft Cheese.
The calendar is busy. The Bath Festival of music and literature comes in May, and the Jane Austen Festival fills the streets with bonnets and tailcoats each September. The Christmas market runs from late November into December. Spring and early autumn are the loveliest times to visit. Our concierge can book restaurant tables, spa sessions, guided walks and private transfers.

You book with us directly, with no booking fees. Questions about access, parking, pool heating or how far it really is to the nearest beach go to people who can find out the answer.
Restaurant reservations, Thermae Bath Spa sessions, guided walking tours, tickets for the Jane Austen Festival, private chefs and transfers from Bristol Airport or Bath Spa station. Our concierge team arranges all of it, leaving you free to decide which terrace to sit on.
Couples, families with small children, three generations together or a crowd of friends celebrating a birthday: we match the house to the group, down to the number of bathrooms and whether the pool is fenced.
The city centre is best if you want to walk everywhere. Lansdown suits those who want grand Georgian crescents and views, Bathwick and Widcombe are quieter but still within walking distance, and the villages around the city offer gardens and more space for families.
Spring and early autumn are the most pleasant, with mild weather and fewer crowds than high summer. September brings the Jane Austen Festival, and the Christmas market from late November makes December very popular, so book early for both.
Not in the Roman Baths themselves, but Thermae Bath Spa, a short walk away, uses the same natural thermal water. It has an open-air rooftop pool with views over the city.
