Coral Villa Lizard Island Australia
For many people, the thought of travelling to Australia for an extended holiday conjures images of Sydney Harbour and Opera House; the cultural hub that is Melbourne, a city that consistently ranks top in surveys of the world’s best quality of life; the vast barren wilderness of the outback, and the Great Barrier Reef coastline.
In many ways the finest settings the planet’s largest island have to offer are actually found offshore, on one of the many beautiful islands dotted about the coastline. Lizard Island is one of the most stunning national parks on the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland and a favourite holiday destination of mine.
A national park that takes its name from the dot of land in the Coral Sea on which it sits, for all intents and purposes this is the place of sunken ships and stranded sailors. Of marooned castaways and isolation. A veritable tropical paradise largely untouched by the onward march of time. Somewhere to find yourself completely at peace with nature, and surrounded by iconography that defines what so many people long to travel the globe for.
Of course there are fantastic options for accommodation here, facilitating a stay on this tiny slice of heaven on Earth. The Coral Villa is just one possible choice to make, albeit we’d wager it ranks amongst the finest. Nestled on top of a ridge that affords the property uninterrupted views over Sunset beach- an aptly named expanse of perfect sand- and onwards across the ocean beyond, you could wander all six continents and struggle to find a more jaw-dropping vista.
The interior of Coral Villa is just as amazing. Melbourne interior designer Hecker Guthrie has stamped his personality on the place that’s as elegant and luxurious as it is unique. Understated, whilst also being utterly indulgent, it’s a place of clean whites, earthen woods and all the mod cons. Bespoke entertainment systems, plunge pools and- for those that need to take their work with them- an office area at which you’d struggle to get anything done, such are the surrounding distractions; whether that’s things to do inside, or things to look at and ponder upon outside.
Unsurprisingly, you pay for quality, with seven nights ranging from around £19,100 to £32,750. Nevertheless, you can’t help but feel it’s an investment worth making- offering you personal chefs, butlers and waiting staff, just in case the thought of preparing your own meals and mixing your own cocktails amid the most relaxing environment we’ve ever had the privilege to stay in proves too daunting. Aside from frivolities, there’s also the priceless factor of lodging in an exclusive getaway, far from the madding crowds on the mainland, enveloped in exotic landscapes; as far removed from the pace of our age as it is possible to be.
Coral Villa is truly a magnificent exclusive luxury villa set in one of the most gloriously fabulous beauty spots in the world and should be on everyone’s bucket list!
