The 900 years old historical Chateau Flacelliere is located 8 km away from the renowned theme park of Puy do Fou, in the heart of the Pays du Bocage Vendee area, yet only an hour from the Atlantic coast. Surrounded by a hilly landscape, the chateau is idyllically set in a timeless village reachable on foot.
The Chateau, dating back to the 11th century, offers refined and bright suites, fine linens and top quality bathrooms. The waxed parquet floors and family antique furnishings are combined with discrete and modern comforts in harmony with the history of the property. The keep has 4 levels which connected by a large granite staircase, quiet easy to use.
Take in the expansive views of picturesque landscape including gently rolling hills, woodlands, pastures, old stone houses, cultivated fields and an ancient tower. The 900 year old Chateau Flacelliere castle has been the backdrop to several centuries of love, war and peace. Poets and great personalities have lived in this domain, each century leaving its mark.
The outdoor spaces are stunning: a 15 hectares park with the most incredible old and exotic trees, flowers and foliage. The large French garden is surrounded by ruins of the former castle and gives a very romantic and relaxing atmosphere! Garden furniture and barbecue are also available.
To top it all, there is a lovely shared pool (14×6 m), heated in summer and open from 9am to 7 pm.
The owners live in the main part of the castle and they rent 2 historical wings of the large castle: the XVIIth century Chateau Flacelliere Keep and (or) the medieval
Chateau Flacelliere Pavillion. Each house has its independent entrance, a private garden or terrace. Please contact us for further details.
There is a village close by where you will find a bakery, chemistry and supermarket (open every day till 7.30 p.m and on Sunday morning).
There is a tennis court in the village which is within walking distance. There are excellent golf courses and horse riding possibilities within 15-25 minutes from the castle.
If you wish to try local restaurants, we recommend going to la Bergelière in la Flocelliere at 5 minutes’ walk (menus from 20 euros per person), to Les 3 Piliers (5 km) or Auberge du Mont Mercure (2km).
