An elegant 18th-century château on the banks of the Dordogne, Château Le Fleuve offers an idyllic escape whether looking for a holiday with extended family and friends or a beautiful residence for your romantic French wedding not far from Saint-Émilion.
Sit back on the riverside terrace listening for the birdsong or watching swans glide by, relax beneath the wisteria-clad gazebo so stunning in spring and enjoy breakfast in the gorgeous Orangerie or courtyard. The two reception rooms are so peaceful and welcoming with stylish furnishings and marble fireplaces whilst in the summer you will no doubt spend much of your time by the swimming pool amidst the three hectares of glorious parkland.
The new owners have restored the château with such love and care, renovating each bedroom so thoughtfully and creating a truly relaxing ambience. There are 21 bedrooms all with en suite bathrooms as well as five delightful apartments, sleeping a total of 58 guests (plus the option of booking a lower rate for 30 guests). The attention to detail is second to none – we especially love the light-filled river view bedrooms with their king-size beds, the elegant garden doubles and the impressive penthouse apartment with its panoramic vistas and bath with a river view, perhaps the perfect honeymoon suite after your big day.
You’ll no doubt meet the hospitable yet discreet owners who live on site, after all they prepare a complimentary continental breakfast each morning and are on hand to cook delicious evening meals or help with grocery shopping for your arrival, both at an extra cost.
Surrounded by apple orchards as well as the banks of the riverside, pass through the local hamlet to the nearest village, around 2km away, where there’s a shop for your morning croissants, a couple of restaurants and a place to hire canoes and kayaks. Gensac is a little further by car, a pretty medieval village with a weekly fruit and vegetable market and a picturesque church that hosts summer concerts whilst riverside Sainte-Foy-la-Grande is also easily reached, home to one of the regions biggest and most beautiful markets on a Saturday morning.
Wine and history lovers alike will adore enchanting Saint-Émilion, an idyllic hilltop town only 22km away with landscapes of vineyards that are classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Then there’s the wineries of Bordeaux and Bergerac alongside the famous battle re-enactments of Castillon-la-Bataille.
Not to mention picture-perfect villages, atmospheric markets as well as canoeing, kayaking, walking and cycling opportunities, such wonderful ways to admire the magnificent scenery of the Dordogne and Gironde regions of southern France.

If booking the 30-person price, only 14 en suite bedrooms will be available (including four apartments and the use of sofa-beds).
The non-intrusive yet hospitable owners live on site (one of the owners is also the chef!).
