Ideally situated on the stunning southwest coastline of Antigua, these gorgeous one-bedroom suites in the boutique Tamarind Hills Resort offer guests the chance to unwind in style whilst soaking up the views of the turquoise Caribbean Sea below. Elegantly designed with Antigua’s laidback island lifestyle in mind, the suite boasts an ultra-comfortable four poster bed, as well as a luxurious jacuzzi on the sun-drenched terrace.
Offering an abundance of natural and contemporary charm, the suite’s bright and airy interior space flows seamlessly out to the terrace, creating endless opportunities to take in those spectacular sea views. The terrace is yours to enjoy at any time of the day, from your morning cup of coffee on the comfortable sun loungers to an evening dip in the jacuzzi at sunset. Whatever way you decide to spend your day, the soothing sound of the gently lapping water will never be far away.
Inside the modern suite, you will find a king-size four poster bed with a driftwood frame. The suite is fully air-conditioned, and the ceiling fan overhead will also keep you cool, ensuring that your Caribbean nights are as restful as your days are relaxing.  The thoughtful design touches throughout the suite reflect the natural colours and textures of the surrounding island. There are simple sofas and chaises longues where you can take a quick break from the heat of the sun, as well as a writing desk. The suite also features a kitchenette with two induction stovetops and an informal dining area, the perfect place to relax with a cocktail before heading out for dinner at one of the island’s excellent restaurants.
In the spacious, modern bathroom, there are two wash basins, a walk-in rain shower and a bathtub, ideal for a luxurious soak at the end of the day. The Tamarind Hills Resort offers guests a housekeeping service every other day and a concierge service is also available during your stay.
The location of Tamarind Hills is truly spectacular, with suites nestled between two of Antigua’s dazzling beaches: Darkwood Beach and Ffryes Beach. Visitors will be struck time and time again by the pristine waters and silken white sands of the coastline, with its picturesque backdrop of lush green hills. On Ffryes Beach, the resort offers guests private sun loungers, as well as the fantastic Tamarind Hills Beach Club, boasting its own bar, restaurant, and salt-water swimming pool. Only a five-minute drive away, Jolly Harbour Marina is home to many restaurants and bars. From here, you can set off to explore more of this incredible island paradise, before making your way home to your suite for another romantic evening under the stars.
With a coastline encompassing serene bays, lush green headlands, coral reefs and blue lagoons, the island of Antigua offers families and couples alike the chance to explore the wonders of the ocean whilst soaking up the Caribbean sunshine! The nation of Antigua and Barbuda is made up of two sister islands and several smaller islets, all situated where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. At just 281 km², Antigua holds the title of the nation’s largest island. However, it remains a tiny, untouched corner of paradise – the perfect size for a relaxed Caribbean getaway.
The island’s 365 beaches, one for every day of the year, are a source of great pride for local Antiguans. The fantastic location of Tamarind Hills on the island’s south-west coastline means you will have the fine white sands of two idyllic beaches, Ffryes and Darkwood, right on your doorstep. Surrounded by luscious green hilltops, Ffryes Beach is a popular spot with tourists and locals alike. You can spend the morning snorkeling in the turquoise waters here, before indulging in a long lunch at one of the local restaurants around Jolly Harbour. Darkwood Beach is known for being one of the most picturesque places on the entire island, so bring your camera for a leisurely stroll at sunset.
A trip to Nelson’s Dockyard National Park makes for an exciting day out. This UNESCO World Heritage site features an eighteenth-century British naval dockyard at its centre. As well as being a site of great historical significance, this is also a popular venue for the island’s maritime events. Every year, Antigua Sailing Week attracts hundreds of yachts and thousands of spectators to the dockyard. For those who wish to experience the magic for themselves, there are plenty of sailing excursions and water-based activities available.
The island also offers visitors some fantastic trekking trails, taking in sandy beaches, lush forests and dreamlike coastal views. For a challenging hike, wear comfortable walking gear and visit Mount Obama, the highest peak in Antigua. From the summit, enjoy the panoramic views, before descending to Cades Bay for a delightfully refreshing dip in the ocean.
St. John’s is the Antiguan capital, a small and colourful Caribbean port city that is easily accessed within twenty minutes by car. Here you will find the white twin towers of St. John’s Cathedral, as well as the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda, providing a fascinating look at the island’s heritage and history. Visit the harbour at St. John’s over the weekend and chances are you will find yourself wandering through a lively local market.
Another popular destination is Shirley Heights, a restored military lookout known for its bewitching sunsets. Shirley Heights is famous for its community feel, with a popular street party happening every Sunday afternoon. Here, visitors are welcome to enjoy the music of live Caribbean steel drum bands, taste some of the local food and rum punch and take in the breathtaking sights as the sun begins to go down on the island. At Excellence Luxury Villas, we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
