Sitting in the northern part of the Cairngorms National Park close to the banks of the River Spey, there’s been a lodge on this picturesque site for more than three hundred years, but you’ll be able to tell pretty quickly that it’s received an awful lot of attention in recent years.
The two floors are strikingly contemporary, with no end of sleek surfaces, chic furnishings and eye-catching lighting that will have fans of modern design nodding their heads in appreciation. That being said, it’s still reassuringly easy to get toasty and warm, whether you’re curled up by one of the wood-burning fireplaces or soaking in the freestanding bathtubs.
If the weather gods are smiling down on you, the address also has a sunken garden with a fire pit and an orchard, a private forest to wander about and a mile-and-a-half of river bank that’s ideal for fishers, or a long contemplative walk. Loch Pityoulish is a few steps away offering quiet and peaceful opportunities for water sport. You probably don’t need telling that the surrounding National Park has plenty of hiking routes and hillsides to explore, but there are also whisky distilleries, golf courses and even ski resorts to keep you entertained.
