Under 100m from a glorious sandy beach and close to the much-loved seaside resort of Royan, Villa Océan Plage is a vibrant contemporary holiday home with such a great location in the sunny Charente-Maritime region of western France.
You can even see the ocean from the floor-to ceiling windows on the upper floor, a fantastic open-plan space with a living-dining room and sleek fully-equipped kitchen. From here, sliding doors lead out to a decked terrace ideal for al-fresco meals by the Weber barbecue or relaxing beneath the pine trees looking out towards the beach and sea. A master bedroom can be found upstairs as well, a king-size double with a spacious en suite, dressing room and its own pretty balcony.
On the ground floor, two further doubles and a shower room allow this modern and comfortable abode to sleep up to six guests, perfect for a family or small group of friends. The relaxation room with a sauna and 4-person hot tub is also sure to impress you and adds an extra touch of decadence to this superb seaside villa.
Within seconds you can be strolling or cycling along the beachside promenade – look out for windsurfing, sailing and other summer beach activities as you approach Royan, 2km away. Alternatively, wander south to another glorious sandy bay around a 20-minute walk away.
Royan offers so much for everyone with its atmospheric covered market, bustling restaurants and cafes, brilliant beaches and picture-perfect cycling and walking trails. Across this area you’ll also find tree-top adventures, go-karting, an animal park, tennis and golf as well as the excellent Zoo La Palmyre around twenty minutes by car.
Explore the wild shores of the Côte Sauvage, backed by sand dunes and forests, or drive as far as the wonderful islands of Île de Ré and Île d’Oléron with yet more amazing coastline and nature trails. Then there are Charente Martime’s oyster farms and salt marshes, historic towns such as Rochefort and Saintes as well as the exciting city of La Rochelle.
Or simply stay closer to home and stroll to a beachside restaurant for oysters at lunch, grilled fish in the evening, then cocktails as the sun sets spectacularly by the Atlantic Ocean. Villa Océan Plage is a few steps from a wonderful beach just south of Royan in the sunny Charente-Maritime region of western France.
In a residential neighbourhood, walk out of your gate and down the end of the lane, across the boulevard and you will find yourself on a long sandy beach and close to a small handful of beachside restaurants usually open April to October. Within minutes you can be enjoying oysters and moules by the beach or sipping a cocktail as the sun sets over the Atlantic Ocean.
Local amenities can be found around 1.5km away such as a boulangerie, covered market, grocery store, pharmacy and a handful of other restaurants. A little further, reach a glorious sandy bay which is perfect at any time of year.  
Back to your home, by walking or cycling along the picturesque promenade you can get to Royan’s harbour in just over 2km and the heart of the seaside town just a little further. The architect-designed covered market is especially atmospheric and it takes place every day in the summer months – find about 80 stalls showcasing the very best produce with fish mongers, butchers, local cheese producers, wine sellers, oyster farmers and of course a great range of seasonal fruit and vegetables.
Further north of Royan are smaller sandy coves and wilder Atlantic shores backed by sand dunes and forests, perfect for walking, cycling and relaxing in remote surroundings.  
Back in Royan, you can pick up a ferry across the Gironde estuary to the Medoc peninsula where you can visit some of France’s finest wine châteaux and vineyards or head to the brilliant beaches around Soulac-sur-Mer, Montalivet and even Lacanau, an area famed for its Atlantic surfing spots. The idyllic Lac d’Hourtin is perfect for families with its sandy beaches, gently shelving water and range of watersports.
Alternatively, drive north towards the traditional salt marshes and oyster farms by the Seudre river or continue to the fantastic island, Île d’Oléron, with its beaches, nature reserves and rich heritage. Historic Rochefort (44km) is another fine day out, as is the vibrant city of La Rochelle (78km), gateway to the much-loved Île de Ré.
Saintes, Cognac, Jarnac, Angoulême and even Saint-Émilion can each be visited within a day for yet more beauty, history and wine-tasting or head to grand Bordeaux, just under 2 hours by car, for yet more amazing experiences in this part of western France.
