This charming and unique property offers guests the chance to live in peaceful and relaxing surroundings that have been honed with loving care by generations of the same family, who have owned the property for nearly 300 years. From the 17th to the mid 19th century, Le Lierre Cottage was primarily a wine property, incorporating vineyards and a winemaker’s house – a heritage that’s still very much in evidence to this day.
The property is located in an expansive rural area including a wood, pool, and topiary garden. The cottage benefits from its own entrance and a garage, while the pool is shared with Frédérique and Rémi, the property’s owners, who live nearby in the master house. At any time of year, the cottage is exceptionally cosy and comfortable – there’s a lot to be said for looking into a longer winter rent here, where you can really explore and appreciate everything the amazing region around Loiret has to offer.
The cottage is located in a small city on the River Loire (one of the last untamed rivers in Europe) and is only 7 km from the beautiful medieval city of Orleans. You’ll find everything you need to make your stay comfortable within easy walking distance, including a bakery, a supermarket, a butchers, bars and restaurants.
A regular tram line will get you straight to the center of Orleans, which makes Le Lierre Cottage the perfect base from which you can visit and explore the Loire Valley and its beautiful chateaux, vineyards, cathedrals and old villages. The cottage also benefits from being only 1 hour away from both Paris and Versailles by train or car.A stay at Le Lierre Cottage comes complete with a bevy of generous welcoming extras! When you arrive, you’ll find your first dinner in the fridge along with fresh and larder foods, wines, drinks, and everything you need for a sumptuous breakfast including teas, coffee, cereals, chocolate, milk, juice, butter and home made jams – and if that wasn’t tempting enough, you’ll find fresh bread and croissants for your first morning’s breakfast.
The welcome pack includes :
– Water, (plain and sparkling), beers, soft drinks, orange juice, milk, wines .- Food for a first dinner: cheese, ham, eggs, pizza,  salad,  tomatoes, seasonal fruits, yoghurts, ice creams, butter etc..- A well stocked kitchen cupboard with pasta, rice, sugar, chocolate, cookies, sauces, chips etc…-Choice of coffees, teas, and fresh bread and croissants for the first day.- A large choice of alcohols such as whisky , porto, martini, cognac , eau de vie etc…
Bed linen, towels and pool towels are provided, though there is a final cleaning fee of €80.
Interior
Ground floor:
– 20 msq fully-equipped kitchen, a bathroom, a dining room and a large living room with fireplace and logs provided
First floor:
– Large en-suite master bedroom with a king size bed and bathroom, second bedroom with 2 singles that can be combined to make a double bed. There’s also a mezzanine bedroom at the end of the stairs with 2 single beds – there’s slightly less privacy here, so this room is better suited to children.
Outside Grounds
There’s a terrace adjacent to the garden with dining table and chairs. The fenced pool area catches the sun but is also sufficiently shaded, and is next to a large pool tent with comfortable sofas. Due to the fire consideration of the old trees , barbecues are unfortunately not allowed. There is also free fast Wi-Fi, guides to the local area (written in English!), a free landline phone to anywhere in the world, a satellite TV with Sky (English channels and sports channels available.
