Villa Amelina Portugal

Cottage/Gite/Farm, Luxury Villas
| 7 Bedrooms|

Rental Description

Just a stone’s throw from one of Portugal’s oldest towns, Villa Amelina offers a large group of friends or family the opportunity to stay in a lovingly restored farmhouse in the delightful countryside of Minho.
The main living area is the perfect heart of the home, perfectly demonstrating the delicate fusion of traditional charm with contemporary luxuries. Wood-panelled ceilings, patterned rugs and traditional décor reinforce the historical ambience, while modern sofas and chairs create a more comfortable environment. The sublime fitted kitchen has everything you need to rustle up a feast, and there is even a games room complete with table tennis. The living room leads directly to the spacious veranda overlooking the garden, where you can take in the delightful view over the Lima Valley.
Ideal for large groups of friends or family, there are seven magnificent bedrooms, able to accommodate up to fourteen guests! All seven bedrooms are uniquely beautiful, ranging from elegant wire bedframes to vast solid-oak furniture and floral furnishings. There are four double rooms and three twins. One double is on the ground floor of the main building and one twin is in the cottage, while the remaining rooms are all on the first-floor. The colour pallets range from a simple, bright white and pine mixture, to a more striking deep green, red or even floral array. The four bathrooms, too, range from modern, bright and simple to almost entirely wood-panelled with classical sinks, mirrors and lights. The annexe is ideal for those seeking a little privacy or a quieter environment, with a kitchenette equipped for preparing light meals, as well as a seventh, charming bedroom with two single beds and a separate bathroom with shower.
While the interiors are supremely comfortable and luxurious, the garden offers the utmost refreshment and tranquillity. With plenty of land to roam and enjoy, including a pond, mature woodland and plenty of paths leading off into the countryside, you can truly make the most of the exquisite rural location. Your own private pool will provide endless hours of relaxation and entertainment for the whole group – bathe in the glow of the famous Iberian sun and dip in and out of the pool to cool off. The veranda of the main house and the cottage both look over the enchanting garden.Nestled in the fabulous rural landscape of Minho, and between so many interesting towns and natural spaces, Villa Amelina is in the ideal spot to explore the fascinating history and sublime landscape of the region. Ponte de Lima, one of Portugal’s oldest and most historic towns with a delightful range of shops, bars and restaurants among the ornate squares and cobbled alleyways, and a huge market on the river bank every other Monday, is just 13km away. The country’s only National Park, the mountainous nature reserve of Peneda Geres National Park is just a 40-minute drive away and hosts prehistoric remains, walking trails and rugged hills as well as deer, wolves and golden eagles!
The delightful market town of Barcelos is just an hour away, while the stunning historical centre of Viana do Castelo is under 45 minutes away, where there are even sandy beaches! The thriving town of Braga, the capital of the district, is about 50km away and hosts many relics of the region’s diverse history. With so much on your doorstep, you can visit a new historical and beautiful town every day!
Minho is a fantastic, largely rural region on the northernmost Atlantic tip of Portugal, bordering the Spanish region of Galiza, with which it shares many attributes. Minho is perhaps most famous as the home of the Vinho Verde, a crisp, dry white wine (although as the name suggests, it is in fact green!) best enjoyed with a local fish dish.
Portugal itself is a small, fascinating country at the most Western point of mainland Europe. The capital, Lisbon, is known for its lively nightlife, with endless bars and clubs full of fun-loving locals and tourists alike, but also has plenty of fascinating history (check out Belém, jam-packed with monuments!) and undulating terrain, famously termed the ‘city of the seven hills’. From Lisbon, it is very quick to travel by the domestic high-speed train line to the city of Braga, which will connect you fairly quickly to Villa Amelina.
With a vast coastline with the powerful Atlantic Ocean, Portugal is a true paradise for the keen surfer, or indeed even those looking to try if for the first time. And for those less keen on surfing, the beaches of Portugal are still well worth a visit for their beautifully clear waters and fine sands. At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
