Villas on the Cascais coast and in the hills of Sintra, and apartments in one of Europe's sunniest capitals
As featured in
Lisbon is one of the most likeable capitals in Europe: a city of hills and yellow trams, tiled façades and miradouros, custard tarts and fado, set on the wide estuary of the Tagus. And unlike most capitals, it has beaches, palaces and forests within half an hour, along the coast at Cascais and Estoril and in the romantic hills of Sintra.
Our Lisbon collection runs to 560+ properties, from villas with private pools in Cascais, Estoril and Sintra to apartments in the city's most attractive neighbourhoods.
Here is where to stay and how to make the most of the city and its coast.

Lisbon's historic neighbourhoods are best explored on foot and by tram: the Moorish lanes of the Alfama, the elegant shops of Chiado, the bars of Bairro Alto and the gardens of Príncipe Real. In Belém, the Jerónimos Monastery and the Belém Tower, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, recall Portugal's age of discovery, and the pastry shop next door has been making pastéis de nata since 1837.

West of the city, Cascais and Estoril have been the seaside retreat of Lisbon society and exiled European royalty for more than a century. Cascais has a pretty old town, a marina and beaches within walking distance, and the wild Atlantic beach of Guincho, popular with surfers, is just beyond.

Sintra's wooded hills are scattered with palaces and gardens, from the brightly coloured Pena Palace to the mysterious Quinta da Regaleira, and the whole cultural landscape is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Villas here are cool and green in summer, with the beaches of the Atlantic coast close by.

South of the river, the Setúbal peninsula and the Arrábida coast have quiet beaches and good wine, and further on Comporta offers rice fields, pine forests and miles of empty sand. The season runs from April to October, with the warmest sea in late summer. Our concierge can arrange a private chef, wine tours, guides and transfers.
