With four dreamy, stylish bedrooms, guests enjoy the sleep of kings, waking to glorious nature and blissful gardens. Casa Aizul is nestled in the gorgeous hamlet of Monte Boi, between Messines and Silves in the Algarve countryside. It is a very special property that consists of the main villa and an annexe. It is modern, sleek, stylish and truly luxurious.
Casa Azul and Monte Boi offer a fabulous slice of rural Algarve. Monte Boi is a traditional, tranquil village. For shops, culture, bars and restaurants, you can head to the beautiful, fairytale town of Silves roughly fifteen minutes away or the market town of Messines which is closer. Silves is a Portuguese gem boasting a fascinating history and beautiful red-hued buildings. This ancient Arab kingdom inherited a stately outline, the epitome of which is its dominant castle, the largest castle in the Algarve. The castle enjoys wonderful views of the town, its fertile fields covered with orange trees and the beautiful River Arade. Silves is a crumbling place brimming with narrow, cobbled streets lined with lively alfresco cafes, restaurants and shops. It boasts a Moorish-style garden which is open daily to visitors and a fabulous, lively market. Messines, otherwise known as Sao Bartolomeu de Messines, is an interesting town offering an authentic slice of rural Algarve life. Over recent years, a number of new restaurants have popped up and there is a lovely local community.
Casa Aizul is beautifully designed, fully integrating the countryside and garden into its spaces. Giant floor-to-ceiling doors open fully to the covered terrace and the most sensational of views. The living space is open plan in design, a gorgeous space drowned in natural light and full of artistic touches and sumptuous contemporary furniture. Dazzling white walls are brilliantly blended with grey and mustard furnishings and other delightful colour pops. A sumptuous corner sofa and trendy chairs sit by the modern log burning stove and the wall mounted television but also enjoying the views. Overhead there are gorgeous beams on the sloping ceiling and beautiful lights hanging down. Next comes a chic wooden dining table and chairs along with a stunning artwork. The sleek kitchen is a grey and white wonder with outstanding appliances. This villa is immaculate throughout. The ground floor is also home to one sensational bedroom suite which boasts beautifully dressed twin beds which are next to each other making one enormous bed. There are vibrant colour splashes against the brilliant white walls and wardrobes and an immaculate ensuite bathroom.
Downstairs you will find another two bedrooms and one bathroom. The master enjoys direct access to the garden and lavish velvet curtains. The second bedroom similarly boasts comfy twin beds that are next to each other and a mezzanine level above. All of the bathrooms in Casa Aizul are immaculate with the very best of fittings. The mezzanine level enjoys two comfy seats, the ideal place to sneak off with your holiday book for some peace and quiet.
Roughly twenty metres from the main villa is a fabulous annexe with a smart kitchenette, a delightful dining and lounge area with a sofabed and an upstairs bathroom and twin bedroom. Like the main villa, the decor and furnishings are trendy and super cool. The annexe enjoys direct access to the terrace. The annexe is ideal for grandparents or a family that want a little privacy and are happy to use the sofabed.
Casa Aizul boasts a sensational 10m x 4.5m swimming pool and sun deck, furnished with luxury loungers and surrounded by colourful plants, olive trees and panoramic scenery. There is also a barbecue and a covered alfresco dining terrace which boasts the most amazing views towards the coast. Just imagine watching the sunsets from this fabulous deck. Casa Aizul is a contemporary masterpiece built into the hill, an idyllic haven that you will be very tempted to book again. Casa Aizul enjoys a delightful rural setting is nestled in the gorgeous hamlet of Monte Boi, close to both Messines and Silves in the Algarve countryside. Silves is one of the most beautiful towns of the Algarve, boasting astounding red-hued architecture, a lively market, a castle, many lively bars and restaurants, a medieval festival and lots of live music. Silves was conquered from the Moors in 1189 by King Sancho I but the Moors were only fully expelled in 1242 by King Afonso III. The ancient mosque was transformed into the town’s cathedral, starting in Gothic style and completed during the Baroque period. Opposite the cathedral is the beautiful Igreja da Misericordia, much of which dates back to the 18th century.
Messines is brimming with terracotta roofs and classic whitewashed buildings, all enjoying wonderful views of the surrounding hills with their Mediterranean woodlands. Messines is the birthplace of one of the greatest Portuguese poets of the 19th century, Joao de Deus. The town is full of clothes and furniture shops as well as an impressive church built during the 16th century. Just north of the town is the Funcho Dam with its lovely hiking trails, splendid views and many cycle tracks.
The closest beach to the villa is Armacao da Pera, a twenty minute drive away. The stunning sandy beach stretches all the way to Gale and boasts numerous beach bars and restaurants. There are plenty of other gorgeous beaches within half an hour of the villa including Ferragudo, Carvoeiro and the stunning Praia da Rocha. It is definitely worth visiting Ferragudo. Sitting at the mouth of the Arade River estuary, across the water from Portimao and Praia da Rocha, this delightful fishing village has retained its charm and offers a wonderful riverfront promenade sprinkled with palms. The main square, the charming Praca Rainha Dona Leonor, is lined with cafes, a perfect spot for breakfast and coffee. There are many fish restaurants looking out over the river. A warren of narrow cobbled streets rises up into the old village, lined with whitewashed cottages. The terrace in front of the village church offers wonderful views over the Arade River and Portimao, as well as the closest beach Praia da Angrinha. This beach is home to the medieval Castelo de Sao Joao de Arade which commands an elevated position on the headland at the southern end of the beach. The castle dates back to the 16th century, sitting opposite the Fortaleza de Santa Catarina in Praia da Rocha. Ferragudo’s main town beach is Praia Grande which lies at the far side of the castle. The sheltered waters of the Arade beaches are ideal for watersports including kayaking and windsurfing.
On the opposite side of the Arade River, Portimao brings delicious seafood, shopping and waterfront promenades to the table, along with one of the Algarve’s best beaches, Praia da Rocha around the corner. Portimao is a sailor’s delight with elite competitions taking place. Long before tourism arrived in Portimao, the town made a living from fishing and canning. The fascinating Museu de Portimao is housed in the evocative old Feu Cannery and impresses guests with the history of the industry. The Megalithic Monuments of Alcarlar are very close to Portimao on the hilltop and spreading out over 10 hectares. There are burial monuments in the complex and a vast cairn with a shape resembling a beehive. Portimao has a wonderful market, the Mercado Municipal, which is a great place to stock up on supplies for the villa. There is also a special farmers market on Saturdays. The riverside esplanade is remarkable and perfect for a stroll beside the swaying palms. It is beautiful at night with the twinkly lights on the opposite bank. There are many opportunities for seafaring excursions from Portimao. You can take a voyage on a replica pirate ship, look out for dolphins, take on some water sports or simply enjoy the magnificent coastline.
Lagoa is another wonderful historic town brimming with whitewashed houses that used to rise above a lagoon. Now only the name remains as well as the local delicious wine. The cultural centre of Lagoa was originally built in 1710 as the Convent of Saint Joseph but it fell into disrepair and opened as the culture centre after a major renovation. You will discover exhibitions of paintings, photography and sculpture. The Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Luz, which means Church of Our Lady of Light, is beautiful and worth a visit. The Lady in Red art gallery is located in an unused industrial space of a big wine producer. It is a stunning display of modern art.
