Finca Vidalet Spain
Holiday Home Rental Description
This traditional Mallorcan finca has plenty of rustic character and is located in the heart of the Pollensa countryside, in the north of Mallorca. Iron gates, a sweeping driveway, and a large wood-panelled front door offer an impressive welcome. Inside, the interiors are simple and cool with whitewashed walls, tiled terracotta flooring, and wooden beams throughout. Two stone arches lead through to a cosy lounge with a sofa, armchairs, and TV, and there’s also a tidy dining area featuring a mahogany table with seating for four people. But when the sun is shining, you’ll want to open the French doors and eat outside on the pretty terrace. From the lounge, neutral tones sweep through to the kitchen, which is kitted out with modern appliances, including a microwave, dishwasher, and freezer. There’s also a handy utility room with direct access to the garden.
Leading off from the living space are two neat bedrooms featuring a mixture of double and twin beds. Fitted wardrobes mean there’s plenty of space to put your belongings whilst shuttered windows keep things cool on hot days. Each room also has its own basic shower room, while one has access to the outdoor terrace, garden, and pool area. From the lounge, stairs sweep up to the remaining bedrooms. These rooms are large and fuss-free and feature double beds, ensuite bathrooms, and French doors opening onto a terrace. While the interiors may be rustic and simple, the views from this terrace are breathtaking. Start the morning listening to the sound of the palm trees rustling in the breeze while gazing at the majestic mountains.
Back on ground level, you can enjoy the peaceful surroundings further out in the garden. During the day, lounge under a parasol, swim in the pool or cook some fresh fish on the barbeque. Alternatively, sit back on the terrace and while away the hours with a good book. There is no agenda here. Time is your own.
The finca is set in a serene location in the Pollensa countryside; however, still close to amenities, including restaurants, bars and shops. It’s under a 10-minute drive to picturesque Pollenca town and the 9-hole Pollenca Golf course. Finca Vidalet is located in the rural countryside on the northern side of Mallorca, close to the historic town of Pollensa. Surrounded by farmland and only 15 minutes from the coast, it’s an area of stunning natural beauty. The landscape is the real draw here; with a number of hiking trails and cycling routes in the region, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to exploring the island’s beauty. The area is also famed for its impressive Tramuntana mountain range that stretches from the north to the south of the island. It was awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 2011 and offers a number of delightful walking trails, including the popular Dry Stone Route with its ancient cobbled paths, olive groves, pine forests, and sea views. For a more adrenaline-fuelled adventure, you can also try rock climbing, abseiling, or canyoning.
If you would prefer to feel the sand between your toes, head to Puerto Pollensa’s sandy, family-friendly beach. It’s just over a 10-minute drive away and is the perfect place for a fun day out. Swim in the calm seawater and enjoy a bite to eat at one of the restaurants dotted along the promenade. Alternatively, head 15 minutes east to Alcúdia beach with fine sand and crystal clear waters. It’s a lovely place for a swim and has plenty of amenities, including sun loungers and parasols. Afterwards, stroll one kilometre inland to Alcúdia town and browse the handicraft shops and boutique stores before stopping for a bite to eat at one of Alcúdia’s authentic Mallorcan restaurants.
History-lovers will also enjoy a trip to the Museu Monogràfic de Pollentia, located in Alcúdia’s old town. This fourteenth-century museum building is packed full of Roman artefacts discovered in the nearby area and includes tiny oil lamps, statuettes, and amulets. Further historical delights can be seen in Pollenca’s old town. A 10-minute drive west from the villa, it is a delightful place with narrow streets and lively squares. Visit the thirteenth-century church of Nostra Senyora dels Angels (remodelled in the seventeenth century) with its pretty rosette window and admire the old roman bridge on the northern edge of the town. You might also want to climb the 365 Calvari steps, an ancient stone staircase leading from the main square to a tiny chapel. There are plenty of small cafes dotted along the way, so be sure to stop for a restorative coffee and ensaimada (a traditional Mallorcan delicacy). Once at the top, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the town and sea.
