Nestled in undulating terrain, the property is flanked by monumental trees which have been standing tall for hundreds of years while providing homes to all manner of wildlife. Far reaching views can be enjoyed from the garden, beyond unfettered undergrowth a glimmer of the inky- blue sea can be seen. Villa Eymen offers a sense of privacy and seclusion that is often difficult to find. The property benefits from an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, together with a well-groomed courtyard garden that is utterly private. Should you bring yourself to leave, the province is steeped in history, after all it is in the cradle of ancient Lycia. The undeniably picturesque village of Islamlar benefits from all the qualities one could wish for from a rural escape, yet it is still conveniently located just a stone’s throw from the well-to-do picture postcard town of Kalkan.
Quirky and cosy, Villa Eymen is a rather striking and unusual hideaway. The location and the property make it stand out from the crowd. The main swimming pool is remarkably large for such a cute villa, lending itself to those who like to do a few lengths before breakfast. The surrounding garden terrace is comfortably furnished with an alfresco dining table, built in barbecue and outside lounge space.
Glass doors lead inside to the open plan kitchen, living and sitting room. The property is well appointed with all the amenities you would expect in a modern villa. The space is fresh and airy, walls are whitewashed, balanced by darker wooden fittings and interspersed with bright soft furnishings. The large grey sofa is an inviting spot to relax and survey the garden and rugged, mountainous terrain beyond.
The centrepiece in the master bedroom is the enormous round bed which adds theatre to the room. The interior has floor-to-ceiling glass doors on two sides of the room, one side opens onto the garden and outside pool terrace, while the other opens onto the inside pool, you can literally roll out of bed into the water if you want to!Islamlar is the closest mountain village to neighbouring Kalkan and is a fine choice for a summer escape. The village boasts some magnificent scenery, perched in an elevated position on the foothills of the Taurus Mountain range, breath-taking panoramic views can be enjoyed from every aspect.  This delightfully remote location has a surprising number of amenities, a local bakery, two working mills pressing grains for the local population and a dozen or so mini markets which are surprisingly well stocked.  Islamlar is a sanctuary for peace and tranquillity, tucked away, far from the madding crowd. Life in this sleepy village remains very much as it was centuries ago and provides a rare opportunity for visitors to sample a genuine taste of rural Turkish village life.
Undeveloped and unspoilt, Islamlar has preserved a strong sense of heritage. The village is predominantly populated by native local farmers and a peppering of holiday villas. Dining options are simple and good. There are a selection of unassuming local restaurants all serving, but not limited to, the renowned freshwater trout which is a local delicacy. Frequented by locals, holiday residents and visitors from further afield, the restaurants are known for having the most relaxed ambience. Listen to the running spring water, straight from the mountains, and take in the most panoramic vistas under dusty pastel pink skies.
Kalkan is the closest town to Islamlar and is just 15 minutes down the road. Once a Greek fishing village, Kalkan has retained some of its old charm and is undeniably beautiful. In the old town, bougainvillea can be seen sprawling luxuriously over the tiny and colourful balconies of restored Greek houses. In the summer months, the town is extremely atmospheric and popular with Guests who return year after year. Aside from the glorious horseshoe bay and barefoot beach clubs, the town is probably just as popular for its excellent choice of elegant roof terraced restaurants.
The Lycian coast has so much to offer, gleaming moonstone-grey pebble beaches, long strands of golden sand, walking trails, classical ruins, the second longest gorge in Europe, classical cookery classes, paragliding and lazy days at sea.
