The house has excellent outdoor facilities itself, including the heated pool, sun terrace and a covered dining and lounge area. There are plenty of ways to entertain yourselves, with a barbecue, fitness and games room, while unwinding is a real treat in the amazing sauna cabin or spacious hot tub. When it’s time to rest, the villa offers five well-appointed bedrooms, complemented by six bathrooms, including a corner bath in the master en suite. There are two king rooms, two queen rooms and one room with twin beds. Modern, fresh décor and high-quality furnishings can be found throughout this attractive villa.
Situated in the Gornje Obuljeno area around 10km from the centre of Dubrovnik, Villa Blago is within 100m of local shops and amenities, while restaurants and the beach are situated in front of the property. The richly historic city has plenty of sights to see, such as the grand City Walls and busy main street, Stradun. You can take a cable car ride up a mountain, enjoy the many fine beaches which line the coast, or perhaps take a trip to nearby Trsteno’s famous arboretum. An incredible place with a fascinating past, the proud coastal city of Dubrovnik is truly stunning. Many visitors dive right in with a walk along the fortified City Walls, a 2km route which naturally offer some breath-taking views of the Adriatic. While this activity can be taxing, especially if the heat and crowds peak simultaneously, it’s surely one you will want to tick off your list.
The city boasts a number of notable palaces, monasteries and churches. The ornate Sponza Palace dates back to the 1500s and is now a popular wedding venue, having previously served as a customs house, bank and the state treasury. The slightly older Rector’s Palace now houses the Cultural History Museum, while the Franciscan Monastery is home to one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe, which has operated since 1391.
Various museums and galleries focus on archaeology, art and natural history, while modern day culture can be enjoyed at festivals throughout the year. The Dubrovnik Summer Festival brings live entertainment to the streets during July and August, while February sees the city’s Venetian-style carnival brimming with masked merriment.
Elegant Stradun is the street which serves as the Old Town’s beating heart. Right by the Pile Gate entrance you’ll see the eye-catching Onofrio Fountain – or, at least, the larger of two bearing this name. A second smaller fountain can be found on nearby Luza Square, where Sponza Palace is situated. The rest of Stradun is lined with restaurant terraces giving it a lively buzz in the evenings.
The city has so many historic sights it can be tricky knowing where to start, but happily there are numerous organised tours to guide you. Some have embraced a Game of Thrones theme in recent years, as a lot of the series was filmed in and around Dubrovnik. If you want the full experience, try to visit Trsteno Arboretum, Fort Lovrijenac and the isle of Lokrum – you won’t need to be a fan to appreciate them.
Finally, be sure to jump in a cable car up Mt Srd. As you ascend, you’ll get a magnificent view of all the places you’ve just visited, as well as to the nearby islands. Further out of the city, you’ll find wonderful beaches at Zaton and Orašac, and the pretty harbour town of Cavtat, all of them lovely escapes if the city gets too busy for you.At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
