Original features like the exposed beams and statement fireplace remain to remind you of the house’s past, but now it’s contrasted by luxurious spa showers and a tub on a bed of rocks. With a real spa and wellness feel to the bedrooms, you can do little else but unwind and sleep peacefully, waking up restored to take on all the region has to offer.
Visit the wineries in the surrounding area – no more than a fifteen-minute trip – and bring back your favourite bottle to enjoy in front of the crackling fire at night. With a separate kitchen and dining space featuring a barbecue and stone oven, you could even gather here to enjoy wine, nibbles, and conversation as the flames dance with cosy warmth.
Take a dip in the pool, or hit the tennis court or gym, when you’re not walking the grounds in search of the perfect spot to enjoy your reading. Enjoy the first coffee of the morning in the light of the kitchen – you can thank the floor-to-ceiling, wrap-around windows for that – before stepping out to take a breath of fresh, countryside air.
Hit the nearby golf course, take the bicycles provided out to see some of the scenic views from atop two wheels, and laugh together as you argue over who won the last hand of cards as you sit around the heavy wood dining table.
