Nestled on the hillside in picturesque Mykonos, Greece, is luxury four-bedroomed Villa Ultra. Panoramic views of the Aegean, a private pool and elegant living areas beckon, while the design artfully blends rustic Mediterranean charm with contemporary furnishings. Part of a secluded complex, this private retreat has access to the sea, a dock and the surrounding gardens.
The villa is traditionally Greek in style with whitewashed walls and stone features. Stepping inside, you’re greeted with a bright open-plan living room with a flat-screen TV and plenty of places to comfortably sit and relax. There’s also a smart mint-and-white kitchen with modern cooking facilities and a table for four – perfect for evening dinners inside or waking up with your morning coffee.
At Villa Ultra, you have the choice of four bedrooms – all styled beautifully with hard-to-leave beds and light, neutral tones. The master has a king-size bed and a balcony looking out to the shore, and there are three bathrooms, including one bath and one shower for a home-from-home feel. Extra ‘luxe’ additions include Wi-Fi, air conditioning and towels and toiletries are provided.
Outside, the garden and terrace are more appealing still. The dazzling infinity pool has an enviable location overlooking the shoreline and is framed by white parasols and comfy cushion-lined sunbeds. Take a dip in the cooling waters, socialise or read your favourite book in the sun or shade. By night, there’s a BBQ and a dining table for enjoying your meals al fresco under the stars too.
The area’s very secluded, but you’re around 400 metres from the nearest beach, where you’ll find local bars and eateries. Mykonos Town is also only a 15-minute drive where you’ll find plenty of things to see and do, including architectural wonders and charming streets. With a daily cleaner, 24/7 security and a helipad (yes, you heard us right), we’ve fallen head-over-heels for Villa Ultra. Mykonos is a charming island in the Aegean Sea and provides the ideal holiday for families, friends and couples alike. Think classic Greek architecture, a welcoming atmosphere and pristine sandy beaches with calm, clear waters that are perfect for swimming. It’s close to the unspoilt islands of Delos and Rhenia where you can go diving or snorkelling and explore the mysterious coves.
In Mykonos Town itself, you can get lost in the enchanting warren of streets, dotted with vibrant bougainvillaea and lined with quaint churches, restaurants and boutique shops. The Archaeological Museum is worth your while, as is the whitewashed Tourliani Monastery, just off the main square. The shopping is excellent too.
For art lovers, there’s Mavrogenous Street or Little Venice – a beautiful waterfront location that’s excellent for browsing clothes, jewellery and souvenirs.For the adventure seekers, Mykonos has plenty of caves and wrecks for both beginner and advanced scuba divers. The island also has a hilly interior, and you can hire mountain bikes to explore more of the traditional villages and country roads that are off the beaten track. For swimming and days spent chilling on the sand, 25 beautiful beaches fringe the island. You can also try your hand at adrenalin-packed water sport activities such as jet skiing or wakeboarding.From Mykonos, you can take a day trip to the Mykonos Windmills – an iconic cluster of white 16th-century windmills in the town Chora, 3.5km from the villa. They’re popular to visit in the evening as their spot on the coast offers magnificent views of the sunset and the sea.
