The villa enjoys an exclusive location on the wonderful Kontokali peninsula, just ten minutes drive from Corfu Town. The villa is totally secluded so guests can be assured of total privacy. Kontokali is located between the beautiful Gouvia and Corfu Town on the Gulf of Gouvia. The resort enjoys an excellent selection of shops, bars and restaurants as well as a few beaches. Dassia and Ipsos beaches are just to the north.
The sophisticated open plan living area of Villa Lazareto is located on the first floor with stunning views out to Lazareto Island from its wall of glass doors. The room is beautifully styled and incredibly smart. One side is home to an exquisite lounge with a sumptuous corner sofa, other comfy furnishings and a fireplace. Next is the impressive bar followed by a beautiful dining area with sea views. This gorgeous room features lots of wood and some wonderful contemporary art. Tucked around the corner is a modern chef’s dream of a kitchen with fabulous appliances including a wine fridge. Its wooden cabinetry blends perfectly with the living area. Doors open from this spectacular living space to a balcony which leads around to the alfresco dining area and swimming pool.
The ground floor is home to another living space, four bedrooms and a kitchenette. The luxurious master bedroom suite will take your breath away. It offers a very generous walk-in closet, a beautifully dressed, sumptuous kingsize bed, an ensuite bathroom and a jacuzzi in the bedroom. Another wall of glass offers wonderful sea and garden views as well as access to the garden. Another of the bedrooms offers a comfy kingsize bed, an immaculate ensuite bathroom and access to the garden. The third enjoys a double bed, an ensuite shower room and garden access. The last enjoys a double bed and has access to a private shower room.
The extensive outdoor space is beautiful. The children’s playground is a major plus for families and the pool is wonderful. The shaded alfresco dining area is superb with trendy outdoor furniture, an outdoor kitchen with a barbecue and a fabulous bar which is perfectly situated to also serve those lazing around the pool. Villa Lazareto is surrounded by towering trees and enjoys lush lawns which all add to the magic of this wonderful holiday home.The Kontokali peninsula is a magical spot, just south of Corfu Town and north of Gouvia. It is just 4km from the capital and its many attractions. The town is named after Christophoros Kontokalis, a sea captain and shipowner who was awarded he estate by the Venetians after his successful participation in the Battle of Lepant.
Corfu Town, birthplace of the late Duke of Edinburgh, is one of the most beautiful, graceful and elegant towns in Greece. Corfu Town falls between two great Venetian coastal fortresses and within lies a very modern capital brimming with elegant mansions, magnificent palaces, beautiful squares and no fewer than 39 churches including the beautiful Church of Saint Spiridon. The Duke of Edinburgh was born at the fabulous Mon Repos Palace. Next to the palace gardens you will find the calm waters of the Mon Repos Beach. To the north, you will find Faliraki Beach. The town’s stunning architecture has many influences including Sicilian, Venetian, French and English. The entire Old Town is declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, a tightly-packed warren of cobbled winding lanes bursting with lively bars, boutiques and fine restaurants. You will also see timeless alleys with the day’s washing stretching from balcony to balcony, such a pretty scene, especially with colourful bougainvillea draped everywhere. There are also some interesting museums including the Byzantine Museum of Corfu which is housed in a 15th century church. Others are the Museum of Ceramic Art, the D Solomos Museum and the Asian Art Museum.
North of Corfu Town is The White House in Kalami, best known as the former residence of British author, Lawrence Durrell. Lawrence lived at the house in the 1930’s with his wife Nancy. Their Kalami home was regularly visited by his family including the young Gerald Durrell who later became a leading conservationist and popular author. You can visit The White House which has been owned by the Atheneos family for generations for a holiday experience about literary history, Greek hospitality and fresh seafood! The village of Kalami is surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea, a beautiful peaceful spot.
Gouvia is a charming, former fishing village which is now a modern holiday resort with plenty of amenities for all ages. It boasts a pretty pebble beach and a stunning marina. It also offers many atmospheric restaurants, bars and cafes along the main street of the village. Its 18th century shipyard is still remarkably intact.
