Rental Description

With dazzling white sugar-cube architecture and warm stone walls, the wonderful Villa Yiorgos offers groups of friends or a large family a wonderful, laid-back holiday on the largest of the Cyclades islands, Naxos. This beautiful villa sits just steps from the beaches of Agios Prokopios and Agia Anna with Naxos Town, otherwise known as Chora, being only five minutes away in the car. Guests staying in Villa Yiorgos enjoy breathtaking Aegean Sea views, tranquillity and idyllic privacy. The villa comes with five gorgeous bedroom suites, elegant living spaces and fabulous outdoor space with a pool and numerous alfresco lounge spaces.  Blessed with endless beautiful beaches, lush valleys, medieval towers, abandoned monasteries, charming mountain villages, market gardens and scrummy local produce, Naxos offers a brilliant holiday. You will discover sensational landscapes, flocks of sheep and goats, sprinklings of wildflowers, amazing food and wine, historic buildings, villages untouched by time and friendly locals. With its giant Portara and colossal sculptures it is like an open-air museum with a very rich history. Naxos’ renowned local products include prized cheeses, Zamboni, a cured pork, zovla which is braised goat’s meat with macaroni, the island walnut cake Melachrino and Kitron, a wonderful liqueur. The fertile Tragea Valley, in the very heart of Naxos, is home to twelve lovely villages and more than thirty of the most important Byzantine churches in the Aegean. Mount Zas, the highest in the Cyclades, is named after the ruler of Olympus and offers fabulous views and hikes. Visitors can enjoy windsurfing and kitesurfing heaven at Mikri Vigla Beach. It is little wonder that Naxos has the reputation as the island with it all! Villa Yiorgos is a typical example of Cycladic architecture, almost all in white with the addition of gorgeous stone and some wonderful wooden features. It blends traditional charm with comfort, elegance and contemporary flair in a brilliant way. The ground floor of the villa is home to an open-plan living area, an excellent kitchen and two-bedroom suites. Further two-bedroom suites are located on the upper floor with the remaining bedroom situated in an adjoining guest house.  Like the rest of the villa, the living space is beautifully furnished with modern wonders and minimalist design. There are lots of lovely scatter cushions adding colour pops. Villa Yiorgos is very comfortable and super stylish. The chefs in your group will be delighted with the indoor and outdoor kitchens. The villa offers a very calm, laid-back ambience with its natural colour palettes and natural materials.  The downstairs bedrooms include one with a queen size bed and ensuite bathroom and another with a double bed and bathroom. Upstairs, there is one bedroom with a double bed and another with a kingsized bed, both offering immaculate, stylish ensuite bathrooms. They are all heavenly nests where you can go to sleep to the soothing sound of the sea. The separate guest house enjoys a comfy kingsized bed, beautifully dressed with crisp cottons like the other rooms and a bathroom. The rooms are all air-conditioned for your comfort.  The outdoor spaces of Villa Yiorgos are wonderful. You can dine alfresco in a superb barbecue area where your barbecue masters can have a lot of fun, all under shade. There are also several seating areas where you can enjoy pre-dinner drinks, family games and fantastic sunsets. The swimming pool is surrounded with sun loungers, a pool shower and a stone-built pool bar where your mixologists can create divine cocktails.  If you can bring yourselves to leave this wonderful retreat, Naxos Town is just around the corner with its famous nighlife and wonderful array of restaurants. Villa Yiorgos enjoys a fabulous beachfront location on Naxos, moments from Agios Prokopios and Agia Anna beaches and less than five minutes drive from Naxos Town. This very special island enjoys wonderful, contrasting scenery, endless sandy beaches, a lively main town, gorgeous mountain villages, a fascinating history and a superb dining scene.  Naxos Town stands high on a hilltop, guarded by its Venetian castle and sprinkled with narrow, winding, cobbled streets, gleaming white buildings, churches, antique shops, bars and restaurants. It is characterful, lively and very welcoming. As soon as you enter the port, you will notice the ancient monument of Portara and the castle. The Portara is a centuries-old marble doorway that stands on a small islet. It looks incredible at sunset when the sky turns orange and gold. The town is sprinkled with whitewashed, sugar-cubed houses with blue doors and windows. The car-free old town is known as Kastro, located within the castle’s old Venetian walls and enjoying steep narrow lanes decorated with tumbling colourful bougainvillaea, numerous churches and elegant Venetian mansions. The lanes from Kastro lead downhill to Bourgos which is where the Greeks lived during the years of Venetian occupation. The new town is situated to the south, next to the main port and with many of the town’s restaurants, bars and cafes.  Naxos is blessed with many stunning beaches, particularly in the west. These include Agios Prokopios where the villa is located, Plaka, Aliko and Sahara, all with endless white glistening sands and crystal clear water. Mikri Vigla is very popular for windsurfing and kitesurfing with perfect wind conditions. Aliko is a fabulous beach, backed by a pretty cedar forest which has been declared a protected natural area. On the east of the island, the small quaint harbour of Moutsouna is a great place to eat fresh fish and the coastal ride leads to Panormos Bay, a pristine, tranquil spot. There are lots of hidden beaches and the Rina sea cave. The island boasts a fascinating history with plenty of major sites to go with it. Some of the most popular are the Demeter Temple. Kouros of Melanes, Kouros of Apollonas, Panagia Drossiani Church, the Monastery of Fotodotis and Kalamitsia Monastery.  Foodie visitors just love Naxos. Everyone falls in love with the island’s cuisine and unique products. The island is very fertile and almost self-sufficient. You will taste delicious vegetables, cheeses, meats, fish and alcoholic drinks. Must-try dishes include pig rosto, pork stuffed with garlic and braised in wine, pork fricassee flavoured with the leaves of sea lavender and tasty cheeses including Graviera of Naxos, Arseniko and Xynotyro. There are excellent vineyards in the north of the island. The island’s Kitron is wonderful, made from the fruit and leaves of the citron tree. Visitors can enjoy cooking workshops like Vioma and visit and tour wineries such as the Saint Anna winery in the small village of Kato Potamia.  The lush interior of the island is waiting to be explored. During your stay, you should visit the picturesque village of Halki with its neoclassical architecture, tiny alleys, bougainvillaea, jasmine trees and charming shops. The marble village of Apiranthos should not be missed either. It is brilliantly well-preserved and is the highest village of the Cyclades. It is famous for its tavernas that serve delicious local meat dishes.  If you have enough time, you can also visit some of the small Cyclades islands such as Iraklia, Schinoussa and Donoussa which are less than two hours away or you could take a ferry trip to Santorini.
