Although this villa can be found close to the northern tip of Zakynthos, it looks very much like a Tuscan farmhouse from the outside, thanks to the stone walls and romantic window shutters.
However, this Italian fantasy doesn’t continue indoors — what you find behind the doors is a deliciously modern interior with no shortage of luxurious touches, from chandeliers and opulent beds to tiled flooring so shiny you can almost see your reflection in it. As well as being pleasing to the eye, entertainment’s covered by the playroom in the basement, which has a Nintendo Wii and ping-pong table.
As you would hope given the copious amounts of sunshine enjoyed in this part of the world, the fun continues outside, too. An invitingly blue swimming pool reached by a set of marble steps takes up most of the outside space, but there’s also a Jacuzzi, American-style barbecue and a designated court for playing boules. Come night-time, what better way to end the day than to sit in the covered pergola with the fireplace crackling away?
When the sea view from the balconies proves a little too tempting, the coast isn’t too far away — Makris Gialos Beach only takes ten minutes to reach in the car, for instance.
