Days here are spent splashing in the pool, bubbling in the built-in jacuzzi and lounging in the sunshine. The balcony is the perfect spot to sip an afternoon tea (or a cocktail if you’re up for it) and admire the sparkling sea views – in fact, it’s the best spot in the house for oceanfront sunsets. When you need a break from the endless sunshine, head inside to the bright living space and sprawl out on the sumptuous sofa. The crisp white colour scheme is a welcome relief from the heat, and although the style is simple, we like the laid-back approach.
Location-wise, the village of Hersonissos is home to traditional tavernas serving up real Cretan food, and most of them are within walking distance. And just a few minutes away by car is Sarantari Beach, an unspoilt gem where you can watch the waves roll in along the cove.
