Should you ever be persuaded to leave this idyll for two, the soft sandy shores of San Lorenzo are just a six kilometres drive. You can always swing by the baroque town of Noto first (two miles away) to pick up picnic supplies. Or search out one of the stylish beach clubs for alfresco lunches and a glass of crisp Catarratto instead – you’ve earnt it.
