Inside, the living space is light and bright, thanks to the French windows opening out onto the patio. Upstairs, via the grand marble staircase, there’s a balcony with views of the neighbourhood – the perfect place for a glass of wine in the evening. There are several study areas at this home, too – ideal if you need to catch up on some work. Out and about, the golden sands of Viareggio Beach are a seven-minute stroll away. Known for its carnival, Viareggio is home to the La Cittadella, a complex housing the Carnival Museum (a ten-minute cycle ride on the two bikes provided by your lovely hosts). For music lovers, Villa Puccini, the composer’s former lakeside residence and now a museum, is under fifteen minutes in the car. Or head to Versiliana Park, just over a twenty-minute drive away, where you’ll find 80 hectares of centuries-old woods to wander through and admire the wonderful Tuscan flora and fauna.
