You might like to start your day by driving into San Gimignano. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is thirteen minutes away by car, so it’s a wonderful choice for meals out. Head there first thing and sit in a piazza with coffee and breakfast – this ancient town’s narrow streets and pretty buildings are sure to capture your heart.
Slightly further afield, Volterra is thirty-seven minutes away and Siena forty-three minutes by car. Both are excellent destinations for day trips, whether you’re fascinated by Siena’s Palio or want to get lost wandering the winding streets of Volterra, where some of the Twilight movies were filmed.
Lush countryside and vineyards surround the apartment, so you’ve every opportunity to tour the nearby wineries. We recommend picking up a bottle to bring back to the apartment for a sunset toast in the garden. You might also like to dive into the swimming pool as the sun is lowering in the sky – the views from the pool are mesmerising at any time of day, but in the evening there’s a kind of magic to this place. The garden is softly lit, and the skyline tends to take on a moody and dramatic colour palette. What a perfect way to round off a day in the sunshine.
