Rent Villa Cadmium Pitanga Tuscany
Holiday Home Rental Description
A visit to Tuscany is all about great food, wine, history and soaking up the romance of this most beautiful part of Italy. Where better to stay, then, than in a restored villa that dates back to the 13th century? Even better, it’s said that Michelangelo himself stayed here while en route to Rome in the 16th century.
The villa can be found on a picturesque hilltop on the outskirts of San Gimignano. Panoramic views show the towers of the town – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – to the south, and the Apuan Alps to the north. The villa is on the site of an ancient pilgrimage route – Via Francigena – so there’s a rich history to be discovered.
Careful renovation and restoration mean that the historic charm has been kept while bringing the apartments up to modern ideals of comfort. You can expect traditional wooden beams and terracotta floors, and a warm and welcoming feel. Step outside and you’re immediately in the romantic gardens, with epic views all around. A few more steps and you’ll reach the infinity pool, which looks out over the countryside – it’s a peaceful setting with beauty at every turn.
San Gimignano is just eleven minutes away by car. You’ll find lovely restaurants and cafes, as well as shops and museums. The ancient town of Volterra is thirty-five minutes away, where you can get lost along the narrow streets and fall in love with the architecture. For a truly Tuscan day out, head to Il Chianti. A forty-five-minute drive is all it takes to arrive in the heart of wine country, where you can embark on vineyard tours and tastings. Make sure you bring a bottle or two back to the apartment – watching the sun set from the garden is a real highlight here.
