Part of an estate that dates back to the seventeenth century, the interior is traditional in style, with chequered tiled floors, wooden ceiling beams and fresco-styled paintings hanging on the clay walls. The kitchen is a more modern affair and the chandeliers add a touch of razzle-dazzle.
However, the real standout feature has to be the swimming pool surrounded by loungers and umbrellas perfect for dozy afternoons. As the property sits 350 metres above sea level, there’s a pretty dreamy view of grapevines and olive farms to be enjoyed from the outdoor space.
The nearest town is Ponte a Moriano, which can be reached in five minutes in the car and has a handful of restaurants. The historic city of Lucca is a twenty-minute drive, while the coastal destination of Viareggio takes three-quarters of an hour to reach.
