There’s no missing the view inside, where huge, arched windows (glazed by the same company that did the Pyramids de Louvre) look out over the misty Tuscan hills. Dinner by candlelight at the formal dining table is an affair to remember as the sun sets before you. Perhaps put the professional kitchen through its paces by hiring a private chef for the evening. There’s plenty of old-world charm to this villa too, with wooden ceilings, tiled floors and original fireplaces throughout. Antique beds in the bedrooms hark back to a bygone era and there’s something magical about waking up to that view every morning.
For the perfect day trip, it’s a half hour drive to Pisa to see the iconic leaning tower and sample some of the local restaurants.
