Waking up in this beautifully renovated 17th-century farmhouse feels like you’re still dreaming. This incredible home is nestled amid the vineyards and olive groves of Tuscany’s richest countryside, in Greve in Chianti. The scent of lavender and rosemary sweetens the air, and there are glorious views from every angle. It’s absolute bliss.
It’s easy to see how much love has been poured into this renovation. The owner spent months touring France and Italy to find the right antique pieces to finish each room, and the result is breath-taking. Chandeliers complement the traditional arched doorways and wooden beams – and from every window, there’s the view.
The outside space here is wonderful. You’ll find an outdoor dining area with a barbecue and summer kitchen, so alfresco feasting is a stress-free delight. Green lawns surround the pool, adding to the verdant landscape and making your time in the pool as tranquil as can be. As if that’s not enough, there’s also a heated indoor pool with floor-to-ceiling windows so you don’t have to miss out on the scenery.
After spending your morning swimming in the pool and lazing in the hammock, you might want to explore the surrounding area. The pretty medieval town of Panzano is just a fifteen-minute walk from the villa. As you’re right in the heart of the Chianti region, you really ought to sample some of the region’s vino – and happily, Panzano produces some of the finest. Pop to Fattoria Le Fonti for a tour and a tasting before finding a cosy trattoria for lunch in town.
Tuscany’s beautiful cities of Florence and Siena are both within easy reach for day trips. Siena is a fifty-four-minute drive and it takes fifty-two minutes to reach Florence. Spend a day touring the Uffizi gallery, checking out Michelangelo’s David, and admiring the view from the campanile. You can be back at the villa sipping Chianti on the terrace in less than an hour.
