Dye Majus is enormous – it’s a very different proposition to the small flats in the alleyways of Trevi. A villa in Monteverde, it’s clearly been put together with the intention of impressing anyone who enters. We were particular fans of the central staircase with its iron banister, but we could also talk about the piano, the sauna, or the fantastic kitchen. That’s not to say it’s perfect. Some of the mattresses were very soft, for example, and fans of minimalism will run a mile, but these are quibbles, and barely detract from the impact of the house.

*Two people will be in a sofa bed in the living room, while the first bedroom only has a double sofa bed
*There’s a separate flat in the basement, but it has its own entrance so you won’t come across the tenants
*Monteverde Vecchio is charming in its own right, but it’s quite far from the most famous areas
*One of the bedrooms is clearly done up as a child’s room
