Villa Catallia Italy
Holiday Home Rental Description
For those who appreciate southern Sardinian beauty and character, Villa Catallia is for you. It’s a truly special experience to stay in this spacious holiday home with Mediterranean gardens leading down to the swimming pool and sea, within walking distance to beaches and Villasimius’ lovely marina.
Villa Catallia is all about vistas of the turquoise-coloured sea which can be enjoyed from the villa’s open-plan living-dining area with its raised lounge area, feature hanging fireplace, cool tiled floors and floor-to-ceiling windows that slide open to the sea-view terrace. It’s a superb place for socialising, dining and relaxing with family and friends.
The main villa also features a master bedroom with an en suite shower room and two further doubles whilst two separate apartments each have three bedrooms as well as a living room again looking out towards the crystal-clear water. Across Villa Catallia you will find traditional furnishings, pretty fabrics and little touches of Sardinian charm to give this holiday home a characterful and welcoming ambience.
Wander through the gardens, swathed in the aromas of Sardinia, and hear the waves lap against the shore below. The infinity-style swimming pool is in the most picture-perfect spot just by the rocks leading down to the shoreline. It’s also a paradise to have access to a stunning little beach, shared only by you and the neighbouring villa.
As well as other beaches you can also stroll to the marina, around 1.5km away, admiring stunning scenery as you walk through the macchia covered paths. Stop off for a drink or something to eat and hop on a boat to appreciate the wonders of the Capo Carbonara marine protected park.
Look out for pink flamingos on the Notteri salt-water lagoon, backed by an incredible sandy beach, or follow hiking paths further south of the capo and discover little bays and more breathtaking vistas. Villasimius itself is a short drive in the car, a town full of Sardinian charm with a vibrant nightlife when the sun goes down.
With wonderful beaches and natural beauty surrounding you and the characterful Villasimius nearby, Villa Catallia offers so much in such a superb setting in southern Sardinia. With gardens leading straight to the rocks and the sea, Villa Catallia enjoys a spectacular setting just a short drive from much-loved Villasimius in southern Sardinia, around an hour from Cagliari Airport.
Part of the Capo Carbonara marine protected park, there are two paths leading to a sandy beach below the villa and another cove with sea access via the rocks. One of the nearby beaches can only be reached by Villa Catallia and one other neighbour.
You can also walk along a path to the marina, around 1.5km away, where you will find a couple of restaurants as well as mooring yachts. Look out for boat and diving excursions, a wonderful way to see the coastline, and make sure you visit the old fortress in a picture-perfect setting.
Just behind the marina is a salt-water lake where you may be able to spot pink flamingos, surrounded by Mediterranean fauna and the famous Notteri beach, perfect for snorkelling and scuba-diving, also lovely with families (it is especially popular in the height of the summer).
There are many other idyllic beaches, turquoise bays and little coves dotted around this part of the coastline, some within walking distance, often via idyllic hiking paths bordered by Sardinia macchia. You will also find an 18-hole golf course within a short drive as well as horse-riding.
The village of Villasimius, about a 10-minute drive away, is typically Sardinian with lots of pretty shops, picturesque cafes, restaurants and, after the sun sets, an atmospheric nightlife in the town’s bars and clubs. Look out for all sorts of festivities, especially in the summer, try the local honey and wine and enjoy some delicious amaretti sardi with a coffee or liqueur.
The town’s archaeological museum also draws a number of visitors from across the region and the area has an interesting history – you are sure to spot some of the many defensive towers dotted along the coast.
As well as superb coastal trails, keen adventurers can head inland to Monte Minni Minni for hiking or mountain-biking where you will be rewarded with magnificent vistas. Even further inland, there are some serious hikes around the Parque de Sette Fratelli with its forests, wild animals and mountains.
