This villa is in a lush valley, out of town but with everything you’ll need for a relaxing break. Much of your time will be spent alfresco – the beguiling garden is full of fragrant trees, shrubs and succulents, backing a wide expanse of lawn. The large pool has a sizeable, terraced surround and you can look out over the garden from one of the sun loungers or the covered, vine-laden dining area.
The location’s main draws are sunshine and silence, but if you need some more shade, there is an expansive combined lounge, kitchen and diner, with cool, tiled floors and old-Sicily-style frescoed walls. The bedrooms have a romantic old-world feel with wrought iron bed frames and hand-painted wardrobes beneath sparkling chandeliers. Despite the villa’s trad glamour, there’s wi-fi and parking, and the supermarket, bars and restaurants are a short drive away. The beach is further, but it will be hard to lure you away after you’ve been seduced by the home’s atmosphere. Take a glass of Marsala onto the patio and contemplate life in the sun.
