Lush lawns, hedges and trees surround the villa, giving privacy and creating the sense of an oasis. As you swim in the pool, your eye is drawn to the clear blue sea just beyond the garden’s edge. There’s so much outside space here that everyone in your party will be able to claim a corner, whether you want to laze in the sunshine by the pool, curl up in the shade of a tree with a book, or keep the little ones entertained on the lawn.
The sun terrace boasts a bar and a fabulous barbecue area. In the early evening, fire up the grill and crack open a bottle of local wine. While you wait to dine outside, watch the sun slowly dip in the sky until it sets – the colours are magical.
When you’re not swimming or supping, you might like to explore the surrounding area – you’re in a beautiful part of Sicily, after all. Syracuse is a twenty-six-minute drive away and boasts pretty beaches and top-notch restaurants. Noto is thirty-seven minutes away, with its wonderful baroque architecture and rich history. Closer to home, Fontane Bianche beach is a fifteen-minute walk from the villa. Spend the day swimming in the sea and building sandcastles, then make your way back to the villa for dinner cooked by a private chef. What could be better?
