Villa Palma Tropicale Italy
Holiday Home Rental Description
Villa Palma Tropicale is located in the heart of Sicily, a famous Italian island known for its Baroque architecture, wonderful cuisine and beautiful landscape combining countryside, rocky shores and the majestic peaks of Mount Etna.
Nestled between the villages of Noto and Palazzolo Acreide, Villa Palma Tropicale benefits from an idyllic location, perfect for exploring both the seaside and the island’s cities and villages.
Designed with the familiar comfort of home in mind, Villa Palma Tropicale boasts six well-proportioned bedrooms scattered across the main villa and an adjacent annexe. The inviting living area combines old and new with antique characteristics such as ornate mirrors and oak wood furniture. After a wholesome day in the countryside, guests can kick back in front of the fireplace, conveniently positioned for relaxation, or watch a movie in the cosy living room. The rustic-style kitchen invites aspiring chefs to turn fresh produce from the local markets into delicious meals.
For a true sense of tranquillity, retreat to the private garden framed with palm trees and tropical plants – there are several spots from which you can soak up the sunshine, notably the large stone pool and a terrace complete with sun loungers. Those channelling the Italian motto of dolce far niente – the art of doing nothing – will love resting in the villa’s shaded areas with a cup of coffee.
Noto, a village previously declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is only a 30-minute drive away. Its most renowned sites include the Palermo Opera House and UNESCO Baroque churches. Walk around its scenic streets and visit a church or two before grabbing gelato in the city’s vast central square, which is also home to the enchanting Fontana dell’ Elefante statue and an ornately decorated Catania Cathedral.
Another place worth exploring is Avola. Only 40 minutes away by car, it’s an ancient village with a stunning landscape between the Ionian Sea and Hyblaean mountains. It’s also a gate to Syracuse’s southern territory and one of Sicily’s most ancient Greek roads: Via Elorina. Come here for a quiet day spent beach hopping, visiting the village’s unique churches, and soaking up the picturesque atmosphere.
Other admirable towns and cities within reach for sightseeing days include Ragusa, Catania, Syracuse and Taormina. The coast is also just a 30-minute drive from the villa, with sandy shores and turquoise waters ideal for swimming, sun-bathing, and water sports. Nearby beaches include Isola Bella, the Pearl of the Ionian Sea and the Spiaggia di Calamosche, with honey-toned sand set in a protected rocky cove.Located south of Mount Etna and Sicily’s second-largest city, Catania, Villa Palma Tropicale is superbly positioned to explore the bottom tip of this Mediterranean island. With plenty of pristine sandy beaches and transparent waters, the area benefits from off-grid locations between rolling plains and hillsides.
When you fancy a change of scenery, a 25-minute drive will take you to either the nearby village of Rosolini or Noto. In both places you can find supermarkets, essential shops, and traditional restaurants to satisfy your cravings. However, the closest restaurant offering a blend of modern and traditional cuisine can be reached in only 10 minutes by car.
Ragusa, a hilltop town with a stunning old town and Baroque architecture to admire, is only a 45-minute drive away. One of the best things to do here is stroll around the lush gardens of the public park of Giardino Ibleo, full of churches and fountains, or visit the Ragusa Cathedral.
Sicily offers a unique mixture of landscapes – everything from volcanic rocks to fine sandy beaches and crystal-clear sea. Those fascinated by Mount Etna can explore the rocky surface where the remains of magma intertwine with scrubby greenery. The area is also well known for its walking and hiking trails. Notably, Monte Nero Degli Zappini snakes through mesmerising lava fields and woods. The Schiena dell’Asino is also easily accessible for even the least experienced hikers and takes you through a thick pine forest. Finish the day with a cable car ride back down from the peak and head straight to one of the local wineries.
Another highlight is that the closest sandy beach, Lido di Noto is only a 30-minute drive from the property. Lined with colourful parasols, the public lido is perfect for families with children and has seasonal beach clubs and restaurants for adults. Other scenic beaches include Marina di Modica, a paradise for surfers, and Marina di Ragusa, a popular seaside resort. Also on the coast is Cavagrande del Cassibile Nature Reserve. Enjoy scenic hikes with opportunities to spot a variety of Mediterranean plants and wildlife or take a plunge in one of the natural pools.
Syracuse is notable for its rich Greek and Roman history and for being the birthplace of the mathematician and engineer Archimedes. Every year, it attracts crowds to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site old town, the Necropolis of Pantalica and many other historical landmarks.
If you wish to explore Catania, it is around a 90-minute drive away. Once the most important cultural, artistic and political centrea, it has been home to some of Italy’s most celebrated artists, and it is full of charming piazzas, Baroque and Renaissance architecture, as well as a sun-kissed coastline ideal for soaking up the splendid Italian weather.
Those keen to explore more should head to the Amalfi-style Taormina, located over a 2-hour drive away and famous for its clifftop panoramas across the Mediterranean. Visit the much-loved ancient theatre of Taormina or head to Isola Bella beach, accessible via an aerial tramway. As the day melts into the evening, taste local cuisine in restaurant terraces spilling onto the charismatic streets. At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
