A garvey is a traditional style flat-bottomed boat, and this home, fittingly, offers a majestic garden which spills down to its own private beach – what could be more exclusive than a stretch of sugar-white sand and the shallow, turquoise glistening waters of the Caribbean Sea?
Discovery Bay, thought to be where Columbus first set foot on the island, is a prestigious spot, and Villa Garvey offers a little slice of magic and tropical tranquillity, within supreme comfort, with proximity to some of the islands finest offerings.
Blending the best of a secluded and independent home, with on-hand staff services, resort amenities and access to tennis, golf and spa means guests can truly indulge in the best of both worlds. Imagine sauntering down past the fragrant, fuchsia toned bougainvillea and palms, down to the cove for a morning swim, or perhaps rum cocktails and sea-food barbecue as the sun softens over the bay. This home offers something truly memorable.
The pool is decked out with a chic pool-side terrace, elegant parasols and indulgent loungers, along with a bubbling hot tub, for a little additional opulence and prettily shaded dining pergola, ideal for reclining in the cooling breeze of the trade winds and sounds of the ocean. Immaculate lawns offer space for children to roam freely, and when the moment calls, taking a little trip out with the kayak canoes onto the calm waters will be about as good as it gets.
On hand staff, privacy along with convenience, the “wow factor” touches as well as the rock-and-roll extras (gym, hot-tub, beach) – this home is hard to fault. Stepping inside, guests will take note of the vivid and punchy colours, along with nods to local, classically colonial architecture. With oriental touches, Villa Garvey has pointed roofs and intricately patterned carved timber balcony balustrades.  
The living apace is finished beautifully with silks (again, with an Oriental feel), original art and nods to the local style by way of wicker furnishing and exposed timber ceilings. Unapologetically lavish and opulent, Villa Garvey is both airy, yet brimming with character and flair!
The unique ceilings, made of bamboo and exposed beams are offset by the flamboyant use of colour; from candy striped fuchsia and pistachio, to teal and golds, and burnt tangerine. Whilst antique writing desks and carved timber bed heads along with silk cushions add to the air of lavish grace.
Fourteen guests can be accommodated across seven air conditioned bedrooms with seven en-suite bathrooms, offering ample space, and wandering from bedroom to balcony will provide guests with a treat each morning as the ocean wakes up
Spa treatments can be arranged at the water’s edge or in the privacy of guests’ bedrooms, for a little added layer of indulgence, and when the mood calls, a beach party will hit the right note.
Villa Garvey is a glamorous home; it offers something rather special, sumptuous interiors along with unparalleled amenities and a private slice of ocean for that note of extravagance!Set between Montego Bay and Ochos Rios (circa an hour from each), is one of Jamaica’s most pristine natural harbours – Discovery Bay, a sparkling turquoise expanse known for its immaculate beaches. In the north coast of the island, in St Ann Parish, the city is also known locally as Dry Harbour. It is thought that Christopher Columbus landed in this spot, and is known for its open-air museum, breath-taking Green Grotto Caves, and gorgeous sugar white sandy beaches.
Discovery Bay is home to some of the Caribbean’s most spectacular beaches, for example the renowned Puerto Seco beach, as well as natural wonders such as the gently winding Pear Tree River, or, worth a visit is Columbus Park; an open-air archaeological museum, set across three acres, overlooking the ocean and featuring a range of artefacts.
The north coast offers other key attractions such as Dunnes River Falls and Nine Mile; its diversity spans five star tourist hotspots to some less-trodden corners such as Cardiff Hall and Fisherman’s Beach, known for their quiet beauty, sugar-white sands and clear waters ideal for snorkelling. Dunn River falls, just outside Ochos Rios is a star attraction; a spectacular 600-foot waterfall that cuts through a dense emerald forest and spills into sparkling sea waters.
St Ann Parish is known for being home to the birthplace of reggae legend Bob Marley, as well as its glitzy developments, crystalline waters and coral reef rich coast, whilst away from the tourist hotspots, there lies a fascinating, colourful culture with music built into its rhythms and craggy remote mountains through to tropical waterfalls and banana groves.  
Thirty feet offshore, easily reachable by kayak, is the barrier reef complex that covers much of Jamaica’s north coast. Taking a kayak out to the live reef will offer a tropical treat of colourful fish and coral, with snorkelling in shallow water or deeper waters for scuba diving.
Montego Bay is an energetic hub of buzzing nightlife, downtown market life, duty-free shopping and parties galore; ‘Mo’ Bay’ (as it is known locally) is Jamaica’s second largest town after Kingston. When it comes to beaches, there is everything from the celebrity dotted Doctor’s Cave Beach, which has an 100-year-old bathing club, through to less showy Cornwall Beach, known for its tasty fried fish.
Ochos Rios, or ‘Ochi,’ as it is known to locals, began as a modest fishing village, and today is a vibrant hub of slick shopping malls, magazine worthy beaches and buzzing nightlife. From white-water rafting to craft shopping, Ochi Rios is a charismatic melting pot of traditional Jamaican life and sleek tourist hubs.

A full-time dedicated chef, butler, housekeeper, night watchman and personal laundress attend exclusively to your villa.
Your cook will handle grocery shopping and meal preparation. They will pre-purchase your first few meals plus pantry staples, then finish the week’s shopping after meeting with you. At week’s end, they will present receipts for all food and beverage and reconcile your account. A typical grocery budget is $55-$65 per adult per day and $20-25 per day for preteens. This may vary up or down depending on market prices and menus.(more luxurious items such as shrimp, lobster, imported meats and Champagne will incur a further charge).
Your cook will also pre-purchase a small starter bar (a few bottles of Red Stripe, moderately-priced wine and rum). Additional alcohol requests will increase your budget. If you wish to go to the various markets with them, you are welcome. Otherwise, simply review your tastes and distastes with them and they’ll handle it all while you stay at the villa and relax.
A nanny can be arranged for an average of $12 per hour. Guests should plan to add approximately $20 per day for food for their nanny.
