Villa Paiva is located in the idyllic village of Espiunca, which is just a 90-minute drive away from the acclaimed Duoro Valley. This property is within close proximity to a wide range of tourist attractions. For example, Arouca Geopark is an exhilarating landmark that is home to an abundance of unique outdoor activities. This open-air geological museum is less than half an hour away from the centre of Espiunca, making it a very accessible attraction for guests staying in Villa Paiva. Arouca Geopark is most known for its incredible attractions, such as the world’s largest suspended pedestrian bridge. Although it is not for the faint-hearted, this bridge allows guests to see the immersive rocky landscapes from an entirely different perspective. The park also provides a selection of tour packages to ensure that new guests gain a full experience during their time there. If you are looking to explore a unique natural phenomenon during your time in Portugal, then Pedras Parideiras is a must-see attraction. Translated as rock delivering stones, this amazing piece of bedrock is made up of rocks that are able to grow and detach from one another. This is such an amazing sight and is only found in one select area in Portugal. Pedras Parideiras is also located in Arouca Geopark, within the designated Casa des Pedras Parideiras Interpretation Centre. Guests can enter that attraction for free and have the choice to view the bedrock from inside the interpretation centre or from a special balcony. For guests who like to see all of the sights, the InterRegional Train is a perfect way to explore the spectacular Duoro Valley in both speed and style. This journey was first created in order to transport wine from Porto to Pocinho but is now used mainly as a tourist attraction. This historic train station of Sao Bento is just over an hour away from Espiunca, allowing guests to reach the station in a timely manner. From here, guests will embark on a three-hour train ride where they will travel through 20 tunnels and 30 bridges, all whilst gaining incredible views of the Duoro River.
