Casa Capissa Portugal
Holiday Home Rental Description
Built in the 18th century, Casa Capissa is a grand and elegant property located in the coastal resort town of Cascais and makes for a sweet retreat in your piece of paradise. Beautiful hills and trees create the surrounding environment of the villa, as well as views of the ocean and a lovely nearby beach that is situated within walking distance. Sleeping up to fourteen guests, this eight bedroom villa is an ideal choice for a large family, group of friends or multiple couples seeking a fun and relaxing holiday on the Lisbon coast.
Casa Capissa cleverly combines both traditional and contemporary decor, with elegant and tasteful interiors throughout. Many original features remain, such as the beautiful ceiling roses and classic coving in many of the rooms. With two spacious and comfortable living rooms, as well as a large wine cellar with fireplace and additional lounge area, guests have plenty of space where they can relax and socialise, or seek a moment of solitude if desired. The beautiful dining room that seats twelve is fit for a king, and would certainly be a fantastic setting for a dinner party! The spacious retro kitchen gives a glimpse into the evolution of interior design at Casa Capissa; featuring a breakfast island as well as state-of-the-art appliances, this kitchen will suit everybody.
There are bedrooms on every level, which are comprised of five doubles and three single rooms. Two of the bedrooms have their own en suites, while the other bedrooms share the remaining three bathrooms. Each of the bedrooms offer stylish serenity and unadulterated comfort, ensuring that guests feel at home during their stay in the villa. The bathrooms are also a good size and finished to a very high standard.
Outside, Casa Capissa only gets more alluring. The sparkling blue pool forms the central focus point, surrounded by a slew of sun loungers. The pool is equipped with pool security alarm to keep children safe, and also comes with a small diving board for the more adventurous guests! An enormous garden provides plenty of room for exploring and having fun with the family, and a mini football pitch will certainly keep the football fans happy! There is also a lovely outdoor dining area where guests can enjoy alfresco meals prepared for on the fantastic barbecue.
Casa Capissa’s location puts some of the most beautiful spots on the Lisbon Coast within reach. Cascais itself is a chilled-out coastal town well worth a look, while twenty minutes’ drive north, Sintra will impress with its elaborate palaces and forested Pena Park. At just over half an hour west of the capital, Cascais is a great base for trips to Lisbon’s many attractions, including many fine museums and the impressive Castelo de São Jorge.Hugely popular with visitors, Cascais is slightly over half an hours’ drive from Lisbon, just outside the expansive Sintra-Cascais Natural Park which runs down Portugal’s most westerly fringe. Once a small fishing village, it’s now a major resort with the facilities to match, but it hasn’t lost its charm or a sense of its history – you can still see why it was the place to be for the Portuguese nobility of the 1800s.
With none of the hilliness of the capital, a day spent in Cascais is an easy-going affair. One of its key attractions is the opulent Castro Guimares Museum, featuring artefacts of Portuguese history dating back many centuries. The museum sits in the pretty Jardim Marechal Carmona gardens, and its brightly coloured, decorative facade means you are unlikely to miss it.
The golden sands of Praia Grande are less than a ten-minute drive away from Villa Sienna. The water here is shallow, making it especially ideal for children wanting to go for a swim. Due to the strong waves, it’s a favourite spot for surfing, and you can have a go at this and a range of other water sports.
The Praia da Ribiera is just one of many fine beaches in the area, and centrally located. The walk to the impressive Boca do Inferno cliffs is a popular one and scenic too, while the marina area provides another pleasant spot to while away some time with a drink or two.
Around 4km north of Cascais, Estoril is a sophisticated spot famed for both its motorsport racetrack and its centrepiece casino – said to have provided Ian Fleming with the inspiration for a certain James Bond, no less. It lacks the heritage of Cascais, but if you fancy a night at the roulette wheel, or a day at the steering wheel, it’s the place to go.
Sintra, on the other hand, is not lacking in history, and punches above its weight when it comes to intriguing architecture. From the romantic Palacio da Pena with its whimsical details to the arabesque Palacio de Monserrate and gothic Palacio Nacional, it’s worth arranging an organised tour to learn about these sights in more detail. You certainly won’t run out of things to see in a hurry – and if you need a break from it all, the wonderful Guincho beach or landmark Cabo da Roca provide excellent chill-out locations. At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
