Holiday Home Rental Description
Casa Damita sits on the south coast of Madeira, near the centre of the town of Ponta do Sol. Translated into English as ‘Sun Point’, this town sees more sun throughout the year than anywhere else of the island and is home to a pebble beach with accompanying beachfront restaurants.
This modern villa sleeps seven guests across its four stylish bedrooms. You enter the villa onto the first floor where you will find three bedrooms. To the left of the front door, is the first double bedroom and further along the corridor is a stylish family shower room with mosaic tiles adding a decorative touch to the otherwise simple space. This bathroom is shared with a twin bedroom also found on this floor. With two single beds, crisp white sheets and neutral decor, this is a calming oasis for those that sleep here. At the end of the hallway is the master suite. Boasting full-length sliding doors with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and blue decor to match the colours of the sea, this stylish bedroom creates the perfect atmosphere for a good night’s rest. The master bedroom also benefits from its own en-suite shower room, which is partially open to the room, and provides extra peace and quiet for those staying here. The fourth and final bedroom is on the ground floor and has a charming animal theme with a single bed that would suit any small children in the group. This bedroom has use of another family shower room also found on this floor.
The main living spaces at Casa Damita are located on the ground floor. Past the single bedroom and bathroom and you are welcomed into the open-plan kitchen-living-dining room. The kitchen is to the rear of the space and has a monochrome design with decorative black and white tiles, white cabinets and wood-effect countertops. Any keen chefs in the group will be more than satisfied with the set up here, as the kitchen has all the necessary mod-cons needed to cook up a feast! Between the kitchen and living area is the dining area. Seating six guests around a matching wooden table and uniquely designed white chairs, this space continues the modern feel of the villa. Large sliding doors at the front of the room frame the spectacular sea views and allow natural light to flood in and brighten up the space. The living area is focused around a wall-mounted television and boasts two large sofas that can comfortably seat the whole group, so be sure to buy some popcorn and snuggle up for movie nights.
The games room is the added bonus at Casa Damita. With sleek wooden floors and bright white walls, this space is equipped with a darts board and table tennis. This is a great place to start up a light-hearted holiday tournament!

Ponta do Sol, or ‘Sun Point’, is a small town located on the south coast of Madeira. As the name suggests, it is rumoured that the town sees more sun throughout the year than anywhere else of the island. The town’s main beach has largely pebble shores, and thanks to the volcanic rock of Madeira, the black shores are a unique experience for many. A number of oceanfront restaurants are also found in Ponta do Sol. A town known for its seafood, there is a range to choose from, from muscles to Madeira’s famed Espada or black scabbardfish, this is a seafood lovers paradise. If seafood isn’t to your liking, then a selection of restaurants do have more familiar flavours available.
Madeira’s capital, Funchal, is around a 30-minute drive away and offers a great selection of activities, amenities, bars and restaurants. The Old Town is always a popular haunt and has a number of sights, restaurants and shops to visit. The main shopping streets of Rua do Aljube, Rua da Carreira and Rua Dr Fernao Ornelas are great for a bit of retail therapy. And if you are after a bit of culture, the Cathedral of Funchal does not disappoint. Dating back to the 16th century, during the peak of Portuguese power, the Cathedral was built as a symbol of Portuguese power and prosperity. The altarpiece at the Cathedral is quite exceptional; with gilt woodwork, small sculptures and oil painting, it is simply stunning.
The cable car running up Funchal’s hillside is always great fun and offers a unique perspective on the city from above. And once you reach the top and have admired the stunning views, you can visit the Monte Gardens with its gorgeous ornamental gardens. You can, of course, take the cable car back down, but if you are after a more exhilarating experience then take a toboggan ride back down the hill! Guided by two men, these rides offer a fast way to fly down the hillside and certainly gets the adrenaline pumping!
A stay on Maderia is not complete without visiting the island’s highest peak, Pico Ruivo. Sitting at 1,862 metres tall, the mountain is an extinct volcano and offers beautiful views of across the island and is a lovely place for hiking. One of the hiking trails starts at Achada do Teixeira. Hikers taking this path will have to climb 300m up to reach the top, taking around an hour and a half, but when you reach the top, the views are definitely worth it!
