The villa features a stunning open-plan ground floor interior which is beautifully light and airy. The decor is fresh and modern, with light shades of grey, high-end furnishings, and huge floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase incredible views of the island and the ocean beyond.
The living area is bursting with quality home-from-home comforts, including sumptuous sofas and rugs in shades of silver and smokey grey, well-crafted furniture and lighting, and a flat-screen satellite TV – providing the perfect place for rest, relaxation and entertainment. There’s ample dining space for you and your guests at the villa’s inside dining table, and the well-equipped kitchen is sleek and stylish, with glossy surfaces and a handy breakfast bar. Here you’ll find everything you need to prepare delicious home-cooked meals for you and your guests, including plenty of food prep surfaces, oven and microwave, coffee machine, kettle, fridge, cookware and utensils. There’s also a washing machine and dryer in the villa, meaning that you can pack lighter and leave some room in your suitcases for all of those souvenirs you’re planning to bring home!
Moradia Furnas features two double bedrooms and a twin room, making it a good choice for larger families or for groups of friends or couples holidaying together. The first floor is just as stylish as the rest of the villa, with more high-end furnishings, a clean, neutral decor, and lots of natural light, thanks to those big, beautiful windows. Each bedroom is a haven of peace and tranquillity, with comfortable beds, modern, well-crafted furniture and fantastic views that are a real joy to wake up to. The bedrooms have access to a furnished balcony, a wonderful spot to sit and enjoy a morning cuppa as you take in the landscape and glittering ocean. The villa features two stylish bathrooms with modern fixtures; one with shower facilities and the other with a bathtub, making it extra convenient when everyone is getting ready in the mornings!
Moradia Furnas’ elegance and charm are just as apparent outside as it is in, with a well-maintained and shaded lawn area for relaxation, a decked area with sun loungers, and a fully-furnished covered kitchen/diner area with a large built-in barbecue; perfect for alfresco meals. The talking point of the villa is sure to be the private pool, accessible by a ladder and overlooking the sea. This wonderful addition is the perfect cooling antidote to an afternoon of relaxing in the sun or can be heated for an extra charge. If you want to spend your island holiday located near a sandy beach, Calheta, on the west side of the island, is a fantastic choice. This pretty and historic town features an atmospheric marina where you’ll find plenty on offer in the way of companies selling fishing trips and whale-watching tours, as well as some fabulous restaurants. Calheta is a popular destination for those who enjoy activities such as hiking, cycling, surfing and paragliding, as well as for lovers of architecture and art.
The town’s Mudas Museum houses a stunning collection of contemporary Portuguese art dating from the 1960s to the present, although it’s worth knowing before you make the trip that the museum is only open from Tuesday to Sunday. Another small yet interesting museum that is well worth a visit when you visit Calheta is the Sugar Cane Mill and museum – especially as entry is free! The museum houses machinery that was once used to process sugar cane, as well as a working mill which is still used to produce sugar cane honey today. Once you’ve taken in some of the island’s history at this fascinating attraction, be sure to visit the museum’s cafe, where you can try what claims to be the best honey cake in Madeira.
Madeira is home to some beautiful beaches, and although most of them are pebbled or rocky, Calheta beach is the first imported sandy beach on the island. Located on the south coast, visitors here can enjoy the sunniest parts of the island, and the soft golden sands offer the perfect place to relax. The beach is split into two areas, with walls protecting the swimming area from high waves and strong currents, making it a safe place to enjoy the ocean with the children. Calheta beach has all the ingredients you need for spending a memorable day, with public showers and toilets for your convenience, a nearby supermarket, and restaurants and bars just a short walk up the promenade, including a fantastic beachside cafe that serves fruit platters and great coffee at very reasonable prices. The cafe plays music during the day and even has WiFi that reaches down to the beach, so be sure to get the password when you’re in there buying refreshments!
