Preparing meals for your guests here is a real joy, with a kitchen space that incorporates glossy kitchen units and countertops with quality appliances that include an oven and hob, fridge-freezer, kettle and toaster, as well as cookware, crockery and utensils. The villa also has a handy laundry room with a washing machine and dryer – ideal for guests who want to pack a little lighter for their stay, leaving room in their suitcases for those all-important souvenirs!
Each of the bedrooms at Villa Rogerio is spacious and grand, with the same light decor as the common areas and featuring accents of stunning turquoise – a nod perhaps to the glittering Atlantic ocean. The beds are large and comfortable, promising a restful and relaxing night’s sleep, and there is plenty of wardrobe space for your convenience.
You’ll find the outdoor spaces equally stylish, with a covered alfresco kitchen and bar area, which features freestanding heaters and offers the ideal place to enjoy pre-dinner drinks or just hang out with friends. There’s also a huge decking area with a dining table, sun loungers and parasols, and of course, a private pool – the perfect spot for a refreshing dip after a busy day in the sun. The pool is easily accessible with steps and features an adjoining smaller pool – perfect for the kids!  Villa Rogerio is located close to the beach of Prainha, which offers natural coppery sands and a landscape that contrasts starkly with the rest of the island, with arid tones of yellow, brown and orange replacing the shades of green found elsewhere on the island. Amenities here include changing rooms, toilets, sun loungers and a beachside restaurant. The sands can get pretty crowded during the summer months, particularly at weekends, so Excellence Luxury Villas recommends arriving early and making the most of the soft sands and clear waters before it gets too busy.
The villa is near the capital city of Funchal, a former shipping centre that is considered one of the most beautiful places on the island. The temperature is mild throughout the year here, making it a popular destination, and the city features a breathtaking landscape of pretty streets, mountain ranges and colourful vegetation. Visitors here are never short of things to do, whether it’s hiking or cycling, swimming in the crystal clear waters, paragliding, surfing or even golf. Boat trips are popular here, as are whale-watching tours – and you’ll find plenty of places in the region offering such excursions, so we highly recommend booking up if you want the chance to do something really unique during your stay.
Night owls won’t be disappointed either, as Funchal enjoys a flourishing nightlife that features a calm and laid-back atmosphere that tourists love. Guests who come here like to spend the evenings and earlier parts of the night dining in one of the many restaurants and bars – perhaps sampling some Poncha, a delicious local sugar cane rum! – and then heading home for a few hours before setting out again around midnight, with bars and clubs in the area offering good music and a friendly ambience right through until 7 am!
Funchal is a fantastic place to visit all year round, with lots of exciting attractions and festivals to experience. The city’s Carnival and Flower Festival is celebrated during the summer months, where you can enjoy samba beats and colourful costumed parades, as well as June’s Atlantic Festival’s International Fireworks Competition and the region’s famous wine festival.
