With an abundance of excellent facilities on offer, as well as an unforgettable location in the beautiful Slovenian countryside, staying at Villa Loren is a truly restful and rejuvenating experience that will delight visitors time and time again.Villa Loren is the ideal place to relax and unwind in style whilst immersing yourself in the wondrous natural beauty of Slovenia’s Karst and Mediterranean region. Close to the border with neighbouring Italy, the Karst region is known for its supreme air quality, excellent gastronomy and intriguing blend of cultures and traditions, giving visitors a chance to witness a sustainable and nourishing way of life, where the land provides a rich link with the country’s history. While you may not feel inclined to leave the comforts of your new home away from home, where it would be very easy to spend your days lounging by the pool or exploring local walking trails, the joys of the Karst lie waiting to be discovered.
If you wish to make the most of the villa’s unique location by doing something a little different, a visit to the astonishing Postojna Cave provides a fascinating change of scenery! Here, you can board the train and take in the sights of this amazing subterranean wonder whilst travelling along the oldest cave railway in the world. Located nearby, Predjama Castle is an impressive Rennaissance structure built into the mouth of a cave on a dramatic cliffside. The limestone system of the Škocjan Caves is another awe-inspiring attraction that includes one of the world’s largest known underground river canyons, making it a well-deserved UNESCO World Heritage site.
For many visitors to this diverse region, the sparkling waters of the nearby Adriatic Sea beckon. Within half an hour, you can drive through the peaceful countryside, cross the border and soak up the sun and relaxed ambience of the Italian coastline. Make your way to Sistiana Bay, where you can spend the day swimming on the beach of Castelreggio, overlooked by the Duino Cliffs. If you would prefer to stay in stunning Slovenia, drive a little further to reach the coastal gems of Koper and Izola.
A visit to the Brda region offers visitors the opportunity to fully indulge in some delectable gastronomic experiences. From visits to local farmsteads and olive groves to an in-depth tour of a traditional wine cellar, you will be sure to feel the power of Slovenia’s ancient connection with its land. From here, you can drive to another Karst treasure, the Lipica Stud Farm, a specially protected area of natural beauty that is home to over three hundred mesmerising Lipizzan horses.
The bustling Italian port of Trieste is also within driving distance, so city lovers have the option to stroll along the streets before stopping off for a coffee at the iconic Caffè San Marco. Slightly further afield, Slovenia’s fairytale capital city can be reached within an hour by car. Here, you can wander through lively street markets before visiting the imposing Ljubljana Castle. The stunning beauty of glacial Lake Bled is only an hour and a half’s drive away from the villa, so pack a picnic of delicious local produce and make your way to the lake for a day trip to remember.
