Its location is perfect for exploring this magnificent island brimming with tiny inlets, sandy coves and sweeping bays, all lapped with turquoise water. Away from the coast, visitors enjoy sweet-smelling pine forests, dramatic mountain peaks, quaint hidden hamlets and almond groves that burst into life with pink blossom. Alcudia is one long suntrap with over 30 kilometres of stunning coastline offering tranquility, relaxation, watersports, crystal clear water and plenty of glistening white sand. Every watersport that you could dream of its catered for, including scuba diving, sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, snorkeling, paddle surfing, kite surfing, inflatable rides and fishing. Much of the coastline is backed by dunes and extensive pine forests. Alcudia Old Town is blessed with charming cobbled streets, small squares, ancient buildings and a strong artisan tradition. It offers a full agenda of cultural events and centuries-old traditions all year round as well as excellent dining opportunities.
Alcudia Playa is beautifully designed with minimalist styling, lots of dazzling white and lots of bright colour pops. Separating the cool living space from the kitchen are glass panels that help to keep the ground floor bright and airy. The bright orange kitchen boasts excellent appliances including a giant American style fridge freezer. There is a handy breakfast table in the kitchen as well as another dining space in the open plan living room. The living space is very cool with a pastel pink corner sofa, a bright white dining table and chairs, a modern feature fire and a television. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open to a shaded alfresco dining terrace where you can enjoy wonderful views down to the sea.
A modern staircase leads you upstairs to the villa’s three bedrooms. Two of these are delightful twins with minimalist decor, fitted wardrobes and a smart shared bathroom with a bath and overhead shower. The master bedroom is simply amazing with a comfy kingsize bed and an in-room bathroom featuring an impressive circular jacuzzi bath and a separate shower. The master also enjoys a private balcony with sun loungers. If you are drawing straws to choose the bedrooms, you definitely want to pick this straw!
Alcudia Playa offers great outdoor space with a swimming pool, sun deck, alfresco dining and a garden for children to play in. Though the villa is a delight, the glittering silver sands of Playa de Muro will be calling you!Alcudia Playa enjoys a fabulous location just minutes from the wonderful beach in Playa de Muro. The beach is brilliant for watersports including kitesurfing, paddle surfing, windsurfing, sailing and the new craze of wingsurfing, using a wing with an inflated leading edge on a strut to power you along. Unlike windsurfing, the wing is not attached to your board, you just use you hands. Playa de Muro enjoys a wonderful array of restaurants, bars and cafes and is popular for cycling, walking and the nearby golf.
The medieval Old Town of Alcudia is Mallorca’s largest tourist hub in the north. It is located on a peninsula that separates the bays of Pollensa and Alcudia. Alcudia Old Town oozes charm with gorgeous sandstone architecture which is prettiest in the golden-hued late afternoon sunlight. It is compact and full of delightful narrow streets, first class gastronomic restaurants, trendy bars and charming boutiques. Its twice weekly colourful market is fabulous, a wonderful spot for souvenirs. Visitors enjoy delicious tapas and sangria, walking around the top of the old walls captivated by panoramic views of the Bay of Pollensa and visiting its bullring, Roman ruins, museum, amphitheatre and the fabulous Sant Jaume Church. Visitors can walk around the entire perimeter of the medieval walls, either on the inside using the Cami de Ronde route or on the outside, using what has now become a gardened walk. Sant Jaume Church is built in Neo-Gothic style and was finished in 1893 after the first church built in the 14th century fell into disrepair. The parish church was named after its founder King Jaume II, who was the man behind the massive sandstone town walls. Art lovers enjoy the fantastic Sa Bassa Blanca Museum created by Yannick and Ben Jakober. Situated in an old palace overlooking the stunning bay and harbour of Alcudia and Port Alcudia from its location on the slopes of Alcanada, it is one of the most impressive and unique exhibition halls in Mallorca. What makes Sa Bassa Blanca special, aside from the contemporary art collection, are the arches, tiled floors and beautiful gardens. There is a collection of animal sculptures in the garden and a fabulous art collection inside the building. Alcudia Old Town is roughly five minutes by car from the coast. The town puts on a whole host of cultural events including traditional fiestas and classical music festivals. Alcudia boasts an incredible history. The Romans brought an end to piracy and built the town but later, Alcudia was destroyed in the 6th century. The town returned to greatness under the Moors.
Golf fans are delighted with the famous 18-hole Alcanada Golf Club nearby. As well as having superb greens designed by Robert Trent Jones, there are incredible views and a wonderful restaurant.
The north of Mallorca is very popular with cycle enthusiasts, many of whom travel from all over Europe to take on the mountain climbs of the Serra de Tramuntana. The area around Playa de Muro and Alcudia is relatively flat with many coastal cycle routes. There are plenty of places locally where you can hire bikes.
Alcudia is also hugely popular with walkers, being at the foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains. To the north of Alcudia, you will discover a peninsula with a variety of walks and hikes through beautiful countryside with breathtaking views of the sea and coast. Another popular spot for those that love the outdoors is the fabulous S’Albufera Natural Park. It stretches over an incredible 1708 hectares and is renowned for its wetlands and bird watching.
