A one-bedroom, one-bathroom low-key private villa set in the scenic outskirts of the old town of Pollença in the North East of Mallorca.
As soon as you walk through the grand wooden doorway of this relaxed villa, you’ll be surrounded by authentic Mediterranean charm. Pristine white walls and earthy tiled floors sit under high ceilings and wooden beams which span the length of the house, lending a cosy feel to a homely place.
Neutral furnishings are dotted around the property, creating a space that’s both relaxing and warm, and touches of wrought iron really add to the Mallorcan interior. Those looking for privacy and tranquillity can look no further as the house is surrounded by a luscious green landscape, where it will feel as if you have the countryside to yourselves.
An open and airy entrance adjoins the dining area, which comfortably seats six people. Next to this is the fully equipped, modern kitchen which opens out onto the garden. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare fresh, local produce, including a ceramic hob, electric oven, toaster, microwave, washing machine and fridge freezer. A door leads from the kitchen out onto a pretty covered dining terrace which overlooks the pool area. Walking the length of the house from the kitchen brings you to the home-like living area with a comfortable sofa which converts into a sofa bed. There’s also a TV, DVD player, and a wood-burning fire which makes the room perfect for cosying up in when the nights turn cooler.
On the ground floor, you’ll find a double bedroom with the same authentic terracotta tiled floors and wood-beamed ceilings. Enjoy your morning cup of coffee in bed as the natural sunlight fills the room. A modern bathroom with a shower and sink unit also sits on the ground floor, completing everything you need to make your stay comfortable.
The outdoor area is equally as charming. Next to the front door is an outdoor seating area so guests can watch the world go by at the end of their drive with a glass of red wine in hand. The outdoor area is just around the corner from the private outdoor pool. Set amongst the greenery, the pool is undoubtedly a highlight of the property, and guests love to spend hours here topping up their tans under the blue Spanish sky. An outdoor barbecue completes the outdoor space and means guests can cook and dine al fresco through the warm Spanish evenings.Can Tereu sits close to the charming town of Pollença and is a short fifteen-minute drive to Port d’Alcudia in North East Mallorca.
Pollença is an ancient town steeped in a rich history which can be discovered at every turn of its narrow and pretty streets. The ‘Pont Romà’ two-arched bridge dating back to Roman days continues to be a draw for visitors.
The town centre houses the 18th-century Mare de Deu dels Angels church, which has a beautiful rose window. The church is a fine starting point for learning about the fascinating history of the town itself, which dates back to the time of the Knights Templar. The centre beautifully mixes history and tradition with leisure; visit on a Sunday morning, and you’ll find the square lined with market stalls and local Mallorcans relaxing with a coffee after church.
Another historic buildings are a former Jesuit convent which is now the town hall. One of the town’s most popular destinations is the Calvari church. Climb the 365 steps (one for each day of the year) lined with cypress trees and be rewarded with views of the town and all the way up to the Bay of Pollença.
A few kilometres away is Port de Pollença. The stunning Port de Pollença Beach offers a horseshoe-shaped bay with soft golden sand, sun loungers, and parasols and offers a range of cafes, bars and restaurants. The popular coastal walk is the Pine Walk, named for the pine trees which line the cobbled trail and take you along a beautiful collection of sandy coves and little beaches.
A ten-minute drive away is Port d’Alcúdia, a popular resort town which, at high season, bustles with people who come to seek fun and enjoy the restaurants, beaches and activities that the port has to offer. The main beach is Playa d’Alcúdia which has received the much coveted European Blue Flag for its clean waters. Being very family-friendly, the beach has excellent facilities, including showers, toilets, and changing areas. There’s also a children’s play area and gym equipment, and for those wanting to get out on the water, there’s a huge range of water sports. Kayaks, paddle boats, and stand-up paddle boards are all on offer.
